A6: Public Service Announcement

Instructions

Research a controversial topic within the field of infant and toddler development. Examples: Breastfeeding vs. Formula Feeding, Breastfeeding in Public Vs. In Private, Vaccination of Children vs. Not Vaccinating etc. Then create an informational Public Service Announcement on the selected topic. Your Public Service Announcement should be in the format of a formal written narrative OR it can be a recorded public service announcement of no more than 3 minutes (see explanation for recording below***).  Use subheadings to organize your PSA. The PSA should contain the following elements:

1. Introduction to the topic (this should present information on research findings on the topic as a whole)

2. Your Main Stance or Main Argument on the Issue

3. Evidence Supporting Your Main Stance or Main Argument (2 appropriate sources – no .com websites.)

4. Summarize the Counterargument with key Details

5. Provide a response to the Counterargument with Support (2 appropriate sources – no .com websites.)

6. Closing – provide a clear closing message to your audience

**You also have the option of recording your PSA ( no more than 3 minutes long) but the information shared in your recording must still be supported. Within the information being shared you will have to state verbally in your PSA as you are speaking where the information was sourced. Provide a link to the recording within the assignment submission area. If submitting a recording instead of a written PSA no written PSA is required instead submit the link to the recording and a list of your references in a Word document.
