An important law enforcement technology that has proven itself extremely useful, even in my day-to-day operations, is GPS electronic monitoring. The significance of this technology has reduced man-hours on the streets attempting to locate a violator and put it in the hands of technology by being able to locate someone via laptop or smartphone, while simultaneously reducing the risk to officer safety. Depending on the capabilities and software, we can pinpoint an exact location within feet of the location track. In addition, GPS monitoring provides strong and enough evidence in court when having to document and explain violations in seeking revocation or more restrictive conditions.
