A study was conducted to discover whether subjects on a diet-only program would lose as much weight as those on a diet plus exercise program. The diet-only group had 25 subjects and lost an average of 17.2 pounds, with a standard deviation of 4.2 pounds. The diet plus exercise program had 27 subjects who lost an average of 19.7 pounds, with a standard deviation of 3.2 pounds. Neither data set is strongly skewed. Does this study provide enough evidence to show that diet plus exercise leads to more lost weight?
