A Crack in the Shield

The purpose of this research paper is to exam the issues and preventable measures associated with police stress and suicide. This topic is significant because it has personally affected the Lafayette Police Department and these team members. In the research paper, we will explore the ways officers can learn resiliency and coping skills to better manage themselves and their environment. We will also research the issues dealing with violence both seen and experienced on the job and the post- traumatic stress that often follows. We hope to identify early warning signs and preventative measures to aid with employee mental health.
