Building a Counterargument
Let's work on your counterargument in this posting. By breaking down this element, we can compose a viable counterargument where you anticipate objections from "the other side" of the argument and address it so that you can build your ethos as a writer. Fill in the sections below using Ch. 6 of They Say, I Say Download They Say, I Say"Planting a Naysayer In Your Text" to help you better understand what a counterargument is and how it can strengthen your  overall. It can also help you with meeting the word count. Think about how you can use a counterargument in  #3 Prompt

Are you addressing a particular argument/point related to your body paragraph or a larger, overall argument or idea in opposition to your thesis?
What do you anticipate or think that the other side of the argument is going to use as a point to argue against your point?
What part of the counterargument is valid? In other words, what part of the counterargument actually makes sense? Explain why it makes sense.
Is there source information or a quotation that you can lend to the counterargument that explains it even further?
Provide commentary and analysis of the quotation or source information from #4.
What is your response to the counterargument? How would you rebut this argument? What part of the counterargument is flawed? What point is illogical, falsely understood, or misleading?
