For the class we will need to choose a project to evaluate. Since there are so many students with such diverse backgrounds to make it easier we will narrow the topic down to National Parks. You will notice throughout the course that we will use the National Park Service (NPS) as examples to bring a more practical application to our topics. For the class example: Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park in Dayton, Ohio and their visitor use survey as the evaluation examples.

FOR THIS TOPIC, CHOOSE A PARK IN INDIANA. You can find a list through the state search at http://www.nps.gov/index.htm . Please identify the Park site you plan to use. Then identify the program you would like to evaluate. The instructor has chosen the visitor survey for example purposes. The NPS has a social science research division that publishes stats at https://irma.nps.gov/Stats/  for visitor use but an overview can be found at http://www.nature.nps.gov/socialscience/stats.cfm . If you want to report on visitor stats as if you had done the survey you are welcome to incorporate these stats as if you compiled them for our classroom purposes. However, if there is another area of the Park you would like to evaluate please do! If stats are not available you are welcome to generate "hypothetical" results for this class so you can complete the assignments. Examples could be use of campsites, the number of maintenance vehicles necessary for your park, the use of prisoners to maintain park grounds - it is completely open. What would you like to evaluate in the park?
