 Blue jeans have been a common staple in the world since their invention in 1873 by Levi Strauss and his partner Jacob Davis. 

Denim is primarily made of cotton, combined into a warp-faced design lending it's durable heavy feel. 

Cotton is harvested originally by picking it by hand from the cotton  plant. However, modern techniques and machinery such as mechanical  pickers and strippers have been replacing hand picking. 

The product's primary use is for clothing in a relaxed or work environment. 

Commercial fields are worldwide. In the US you can find them predominantly in the midwest and south. 

Hemp is beginning to be a more and more popular replacement for cotton. Many other material products exist as well.
