In Indiana, parole is automatic or mandatory. There isn't a parole board making release decisions. Once an offender hits the 50% mark of their sentence (assuming they behave well and are entitled to good time credit), he/she is released to the community. Do you think this is a good way for inmates to be released or should a distinct body, like a parole board, be making release decisions on individual offenders?
