Introduction Paragraph
• Here you will introduce your topic to your reader. • Make sure to hook your reader in at the beginning. • Insert your thesis at or toward the end of the paragraph. • 3 to 5 sentences • Tools to help:

• In this paragraph, you will address the “why” of your thesis. • You should offer at least three examples to support your thesis. • Use more than one body paragraph if your thesis is slightly complex, you’d like to introduce a
counterpoint, or you simply have more to say (such as including multiple perspectives). • 4 to 7 sentences • Tools to help:

Competency In this project, you will demonstrate your mastery of the following competency:
Apply the core concepts of psychology to authentic situations
Scenario You are a member of SNHU’s champion debate club. You have had a successful season and are well on your way to the College Debate Bowl
championship! Your team’s objective for this event will be to prepare a defense for a position on the following topic: Which impacts human
behavior more: nature or nurture?
In order to prepare for this event, the captain has asked team members to become well-rehearsed on positions in this argument. She has
requested that you write a position paper to prepare for the upcoming debate.

Review your completed milestone and your milestone feedback prior to starting your project.
Directions You will use your webtext writing templates to complete the project.
Review the resources in the Supporting Materials area. For your paper, you must address the rubric criteria listed below:
1. Introductory Paragraph: Create a clear thesis statementthesis statement that takes a position on whether nature or nurture has more impact on human
behavior. Your introductory paragraph should be a minimum of 3 to 5 sentences.
2. Body Paragraphs: Explain the influence of both nature and nurturenature and nurture and how they impact human behavior. Each body paragraph should be
a minimum of 4 to 7 sentences.
3. Body Paragraphs: Explain how at least one of the seven perspectives of psychologyseven perspectives of psychology can support your argument. Each body paragraph
should be a minimum of 4 to 7 sentences.
4. Conclusion Paragraph: Summarize positionSummarize position on nature and nurture based on research. Your conclusion paragraph should be a minimum of
