Abstract
Quickly tell the reader what to anticipate in this paper. Approximately 200 words. Here also mention the theory you are addressing your topic issue and paper around. Your abstract needs to be on its own page.
Keyword: Issue Topic (i.e. Option #1 – Diversity)
Introduction
This should be around two paragraphs. In the introduction, the reader should know what issue you are addressing. You should explain why examining this issue is important. This is the “hook” – to get you reader interested. This sets up the rest of your paper.
Case Studies/Review (Body of your Paper)
Body of paper with comparisons of articles and facts around theory. Here is where you are addressing your topic in a theoretical manner. Make sure the entire paper is 12-point font, New Times Roman, double-spaced with bolded section headers. The entire paper should be around 2,500-3,000 words. Make sure if you state an idea that is not your own, that you properly cite that reference using APA intext citations (Lard, 2019). Please see APA guides for help. Cite all statements that appear factual to prevent the appearance of conjecture or opinion as they are frowned upon in a scholarly research paper.
Often, I will have about one-two paragraphs that give more background regarding the topic issue and why it is important. One suggestion is to find recent data or stats that can substantiate your claim.
In the “body” of your paper, you may use “second headings” to further explore your issue. This would be were I would introduce the theory or conceptual framework that you are using. In this paper, you are going to be the subject matter expert. Assume your reader is a layperson and does not know anything about the theory or conceptual framework. I would provide an in-depth explanation of the theory; how it has been applied; critiques and criticisms; how the theory has evolved, and how it is perceived today. Write about how this theory is appropriate when looking at your issue. How does it help address the issue? Remember that this paper is your creation. These are just my opinions but if you want to write-it up differently that is your prerogative. Some papers have compared and contrasted different theories – which was very interesting. I would caution not to use more than three theories in this paper. We are looking for depth of analysis.
Discussion
This is where you wrap up your research with the theory, pertaining to the reason you wrote this in the first place, in other words, the problem.
Conclusion
Summarize and conclude your study, wrap it up concisely.
