After reviewing the reading I would not accept the failing grade. I would defend my view by seeing if I was being graded on my work by the schools grading rubric, which should support my claim. If I am within the rubric and my points are valid points whether the teacher agrees with them or not then I should get credit for the work. Everyone has different opinions but it should not be graded based on opinions. In this case to me moral and ethical values are involved in this dispute, because the fact that the teacher is basing his grading on what he feels the individual is not supposed to succeed in this field, which is wrong. What I would do is take this to the school board and have them give their input on if this is a fair way to grade an assignment based on what the teacher is saying. I would also get with the student body president who is there to help students in this case and see if they can push to help with the issue as well. The main thing I would bring to their attention to possibly get the grade changed is like I stated before, am I being graded based on the schools and class rubric grading system. I don’t feel that a teacher’s personal feeling should be involved in grading especially when it comes to their ethical or moral feelings. I feel that a teacher like this will keep students from wanting to pursue their dreams and keep individuals from realizing what they want to do with their lives just because of what the teacher is stating, making the individual feel that the world is really like this. I do believe that you have to stand up for what you believe in and if it does not work on that level than you continue to push forward and move it up through to your congressman/congresswoman, and then to the supreme court, legal action does work. Also, one thing that we have going for us in this day in age is social media, you post this to social media and all it has to do is go viral and it will spread like wildfire, then it will place immense pressure on the school to do the right thing and that can be huge.

          I would not accept the failing grade and explain to the teacher that I have human rights. According DesJardins, Hartman & MacDonald (2018), human rights protect us from being treated in ways that violated our dignity. The Declaration of Human Rights explains that we have rights no matter what our race and color. The values that are involved are the teachers, the students and our society values. If the teacher is stuck in her decision, I would take it up to the dean or school board members and argue my decision. I would explain to the dean that ethical values should contribute to human well-being and should not be based on the teacher’s opinion. I would also point out if my assignment met all the criteria that needed to be accomplished. If so, then there shouldn't be a need for a bad grade. I would advise the dean that I should not be discriminated based on my color and my grade should be changed. According to the 1964 Civil Rights Act, people are protected against discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex or national origin (Zero Tolerance, 2005). This professor’s practice can have a negative impact on students’ grades, preventing students from having a fair chance in that class. I would get the student president involved in with my situation. The student president could help gather other students to help provide support for my case. If reasoning and logical persuasion do not work, the major alternative would be to try to contact my congressman or governor of that state. I could also get the media involve and help gather support in changing my grade.
