-supposed to be writing up 6 data collections on Unilever.

-Artifacts attempt to indicate "ways of doing" in a organizational life.  What types of artifacts would you consider more important/less important when doing an "archeological dig" of an organization? Why/why not?

-Artifacts include material and nonmaterial objects and patterns that intentionally or unintentionally communicate information about the organization’s technology, beliefs, values, assumptions and ways of doing things. Examples of artifacts include documents, offices, furnishings, equipment, dress, jargon, metaphors, myths, stories, heroes, ceremonies, celebrations (symbols or signs readily identified by looking and listening).”

Example: One big one that stands out to me is how people dress at the organization. When you meet someone there, how they are dressed immediately gives a first impression of the company. In terms of my specific organization, I think things like office layout are less important, because the office is not where many customer interactions take place. Most of the interactions are virtual, or at the customer's location. With that being said, I think my organization's website, and email layout are very important artifacts. These are the "front" of the company, and what people's first interactions with them are like. I feel that makes a big difference in how the rest of the company is perceived.
