Discuss the issue of racist symbols in the United States. In recent years there has been an increased use of Confederate flags, swastikas, and conflict over the removal of confederate statues (the Charlottesville riot was caused by the planned removal of a statue of Robert E. Lee). Analyze how these symbols are being used now (such as during the insurrection at the Capitol on January 6, 2021), why you think they are being used, and whether you think their use is acceptable (due to free speech) or not.
