Over the past several decades American society has changed in a number of significant ways. Discuss in detail at least one such change.

When it gets down to explaining the social changes that have occurred in the United States in recent decades, as a matter of fact, those changes may include the advent and rapid development of the networks, the improved medical care, and so on. 

As for the network technologies, in particular, the online shopping services, on the one hand, Americans’ life has become much convenient than before because of the popularity of a huge number of E-commercial corporations, for example, e-bay, Amazon, etc. It has been discussed that people do not need to go out to get purchased products. However, on the other hand, respectable physical stores have been largely threatened by such an inevitable tendency and social changes in American society.

Under this background, it deserves to mention that the American government has been expected to draw up favorable policies not only to those online shopping-oriented corporations but also to those physical stores. That is to say, the American government may help those physical stores to engage and succeed in enterprise transformation for the purpose to prevent a part of them from being on the verge of bankruptcy. “A part of them” here mainly refers to the ones who have largely contributed to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the American economy before. Considering this, provided that the American government helps those to complete enterprise transformation, a win-win situation is more likely to achieve in American society. Additionally, the popularity of online shopping in the United States also brings certain social changes, and the most distinctive is that it has influenced or even changed the consumption concepts that used to be held by them.

Therefore, overall speaking, it is hard to conclude and judge whether such social change is a good one or not.
