Part One:
Visit Freedom House’s website for its Freedom in the World 2018 study. Check out the map and the key findings info. Click on the “Methodology” tab in the menu on the left (you may need to scroll down below the map to see this menu) and read about how freedom is measured in this study. Then click on the “2018 Country Scores” in the menu on the left. Look for the data that corresponds to your country. What is your country’s freedom status? Its score for political rights? Civil liberties? Its freedom ranking? The aggregate score? Copy what you find about your country and put it in a Word file. Don’t post it to Blackboard yet – until you do Weekly Assignment Part 2 below.
You can read more about the Freedom House organization here: https://freedomhouse.org/about-us.
Part Two:
Visit the Heritage Foundation’s “Index of Economic Freedom" website. Click on “About the Index” in the menu at the top and read all about the index, including the frequently asked questions.
Then click on the “Country Rankings” tab at the top and see where you country falls on the overall ranking list. Take a moment to read about the top 3 countries on the list (information about them scrolls at the top of the page or you can click on their country name in the overall ranking list).
In this list, you can click on your assigned country. Find your country, click on it, and read the report. Copy what you learn here and add it to your weekly assignment report for this week. Click the link above to submit the complete assignment. We will discuss this more in the sync session.
