Theories about Crime

There are several widely accepted theories as to the reasons people use drugs and fall into a criminal lifestyle (Lyman, 2011).  some of these theories are:

• Social Disorganization Theory
• Cultural Transmission
• Anomie
• Opportunity Theory
• Differential Association (Lyman, 2011)

Which theory do you believe best explains the reasons for drug abuse in your jurisdiction?  Is it simply one theory, multiple theories, or, do you believe there is another reason for drug abuse?  Explain your answer to the group.
