As we discuss narratives this week, we will talk about narrative tension and how a writer "compels" you forward through the use of tension and the narrative story arc: beginning, middle, and end. We will also think about the power of telling your story and WHY would someone reveal themselves to vulnerably to an audience? Both of these writers get very personal about their relationship to food and their body images. What moved you or interested you or surprised you? Where are you seeing them use SCENE, SUMMARY and MUSING? What is the author's point--thesis--what do they want you to agree with by reading their stories or what is the bigger message? And, as a writer learning from other writers, what did either of these pieces do well that you might want to do as well?
