miguelaIn this week's discussion post, I want you to respond to the video of Kathy Jetnil-Kijiner performing her poem "Dear Matafele Peinem" to the UN Climate Leaders Summit in 2014. Respond to her performance: what is it about? How does it make you feel? (I would suggest watching the video at least two times.) How does it connect with things that we are learning about this region, and in particular how sea level rise due to climate change is effecting small island nations (for example, see page 427 in WRGC). Then, do some basic online research on the term "climate justice." What is climate justice and do you think that Jetnil-Kijiner's performance highlights issues of climate justice? If so, how?
