This week, the first lecture and many of the readings, such as the Hollywood Reporter interview with Ari Emanuel and Patrick Whitesell and the Variety article on conflicts of interest, show us how talent agencies have moved headlong into production thanks to the lapsed SAG waiver. Taking your readings on Hollywood history and agent power into consideration, I want you each to come up with two positive and two negative aspects of this move toward agency content creation. If you're not sure, just ask yourself if you think it helps or hurts the talent, the studios, independent producers, the consumer, or anyone else involved in media production and consumption.
