Explain the role of slavery in the development of the United States up to this point. Make sure to discuss and cite evidence that supports your argument and cover the entire period from the founding original 13 colonies to the writing of the Constitution. My textbook is Visions of America Volume 1. The class is up through Chapter 5. This question is for my Midterm Essay Assignment. I also need the sources cited within the writing and a bibliography. Sources should be at least 1 book and 2 secondary (web site or journal article). The essay needs to be 2 pages in length.
