Economic Sanctions
Uses money as a means of carrying out criminal sanctions. Including Fines, Restitution, or Forfeiture of Assets.
In most cases, economic sanctions are attached as a condition of probation. Includes fines, offender restitution, victim compensation, cost of supervision, asset forfeiture.
The length of this program is typically until probation ends or until restitutions have been paid.
The coat per day differs and depends on the situation.
Intensive Supervised Probation
Supervision of community offender with higher than average risk, through smaller caseloads and very close monitoring of activities.
Provides intensive supervised probation for offenders that are high risk. PO’s have smaller caseloads. Results in reduced recidivism.
The length of the programs depends when probation is possible then the judge determines whether to grant probation.

House Arrest Offenders live at home and must be at home except for times they are to be at work or participating in other activities approved by their probation officer.

Community Residential Centers(CRCs )
Houses in which offenders live in the community that provide supervision, room and board, and some treatment as an alternative to prison
Halfway house, helps inmates transition from prison back to communities, treatment, provides room and board
The length of time depends on an offender’s sentence or until competition of treatment.
$43.41 per day, per offender.
Split Sentences A combination of a short jail sentence and the return to the community on probation.
Punishment and rehabilitation for offenders that haven’t committed serious crimes. Used to deter offenders from becoming criminals. Sentences sometimes served on weekends
Anywhere for 30 to 180 days
$30-$40 per day, per offender.
Shock incarceration or boot camp
Alternatives to traditional incarceration that are operated like a military boot camp.
Offenders must aver short hair, shine shoes, wear military styled uniforms, do extensive exercise, and perform hard physical labor. Complemented with educational and drug programs
Depends on what the judge sentences. Shorter sentences than prison sentences.
$67.85 per day, per inmate.
Shock Probation
A short period of imprisonment to “shock” the offender, with a return to the community within a few weeks to continue supervised probation.
