In 2006, the Roth 401(k) became available but few employers were willing to offer it due to the sunset provision. Now that it has been made permanent, more employers are starting to offer the option. Employees now need to decide if they want to continue their contributions to the traditional 401(k) or if they should start contributing to a Roth 401(k).
