Several authors have written about their preferred ways to approach the reading of research articles (Durbin, 2009; Hudson-Barr, 2004; Raines, 2013).

Durbin (2009) suggests starting with the Abstract, then examining the Results section, before moving on to other sections.

Hudson-Barr (2004), in what is my favored approach, favors a close examination of the title, followed by reviewing the Abstract and Discussion sections.

Raines (2013) suggests reading from start to finish.

In your own words, after examining these authors' suggestions for yourself, what is your favored approach and why?
