Out of all of the theorist we covered in this  week's text, I found Bourdieu to be the most intriguing as far as his  theory's went. Is idea of Hibitus is most exciting to me. From our text,  " habitus, as the “internalization of externality,” structures an  individual’s perception of the social world at the same time that it is  itself a product of social and historical conditions(pg 458). I think  this shows and individualist and collectivist perspectives. I believe  that he bridges the two very well.  His idea is that the individual  takes his stance and stands on the side of social he or she believes in  and then interprets the world around their own perspective. "Thus,  Bourdieu contends that actors adopt strategies that maximize their  economic, cultural, social, and symbolic capital. In this light, we  might take Bourdieu to mean that action is motivated by a conscious,  rational calculation of costs and benefits (pg461) Although, he did  believe this to be true, he believes one's feel lead to places where  they could gain goods and capital and social status. He did not think  that one was only motivated by things, that they put them selves in  position to gain them.
