An example of an information system that links the organization is the company intranet. A well-designed company intranet can be the end-all, be-all solution for all company's business needs. With well-defined user groups, and security permissions, an IT team can design an intranet portal that allows different parts of an organization to manage their functions independently of one another, and share information that is important for all employees to know in a central hub. It can be a powerful communication and data management tool.
