I. PURPOSE OF THE SESSION: The purpose of this session is to assist the client with identifying
ways in which he can cope with his anxiety and depression during his recovery.
II. OBSERVATION: Client is a 18-year-old AA female. Client stated
that she been dealing with depression and PTSD since her freshman year of high school as a result of the
death of her father, whom she was extremely close with. OA disclosed that since she was 15 years-old she
has used multiple and various types of illegal drugs as well as prescription drugs to help her manage her
depression and PTSD. OA reported that the drugs were the best way she could cope with that was going
on in her head. OA reported that her drug use has caused her quite a few problems from losing her college
scholarship and legal problems.
