Jared Bernstein, in his article “Poverty and Inequality,” states that poverty is directly
related to the current world’s economy. The author clearly states his ideas and provides examples
for all the ideas he states. For example, Mr. Jared claims that the higher the rate of poverty in any
country the lower the economic growth on the stated country, and the higher the inequality levels
between the high-income earners and the low-income earners (Bernstein, 2014). Many countries
have not accepted this fact, according to Mr. Jared. Such countries are suspicious about the link
between poverty and economic growth. However, different researches have proven the fact that
economic growth in negatively influenced by poverty in the sense that poverty slows down the
economic growth of any nation. From stating the above information, one is able to clearly
understand what he was communicating due to clarity of the information.
The author’s information is also valid based on the topic he wrote about. For example, as
stated by Mr. Jared, nations should begin by fighting poverty in order to encourage economic
growth. According to Mr. Jared, any nation that has an increased poverty level experiences a
decreased rate of economic growth (Bernstein, 2014). One of the factors contributing to
decreased rates of economic growth is the reduced income and increased spending on the
government’s part. The information provided by Mr. Jared is valid based on the paper’s topic.
The ideas stated by the author are applicable to the current world’s issues. For example,
Mr. Jared claims that poverty leads to increased unemployment levels. For the government to be
able to actively finance its activities, it receives most of its income from taxing worker who are
working within the nation. In the case of increased poverty levels, the income that a government

gets from taxation is limited due to the increased rate of unemployment or minimal income from
the individuals who live below the poverty levels. In addition, the government tends to have an
increase in its expenses due to the provision of relief services to the people living in poverty.

relating information from different sites (Kumar, 2004). One should be able to distinguish
between credible sources and sources that are not credible before using information from the
internet. Credible sources include registered sites which are owned by registered companies
licensed to provide information. Such sites have greater chances of providing credible
information. In addition, people should use registered sights that are renowned for their quality
