Personally, achieving goals, having integrity, helping others, and taking care of my family
are things that increase how much I value and respect myself. I also think that the people we
choose to surround ourselves with can have a lot to do with how much we value and respect
ourselves. Self-esteem, self-image and self-value have some differences. Self-esteem is
valuing your worth as a person. When you have self-esteem you feel confident about who
you are inside. Self-esteem comes from within. Unlike, self-esteem, self-image is how we
feel others view us. A lot of times our self-image is based off of what others think of us. Self
Value makes us feel worthy and valued no matter if our self esteem or self image may not
be feeling that way. You can have a positive self image and have poor self esteem.Self-
esteem and attitude matter because they give you motivation to move on. We need to have
confidence to succeed and we need to feel worthy of achieving success. Some things that we
may do to increase our self value and respect may be to try to keep a positive attitude about
life. I feel that if we surround ourselves with positive, good people that can help. Try not to
complain if something is wrong, try to find a solution to the problem. Also, we can't worry
about what we can't change. For me self esteem is how you feel about yourself, I believe self
image is how you feel you look to yourself or other people and lastly self value is how much
respect someone has for them self.I think it helps to differentiate them because you can feel
good about yourself (self-esteem) and not feel good about the way you look (self image) and
still have self value (respect) for yourself.I think you can have high self esteem because your
happy and successful, but have low self image due to weight gain after child birth and still
have self value.I believe self esteem and attitude go hand in hand. I say that because
generally if you have low self esteem your not going to be a very happy person so that in
turn results in a negative attitude. On the other hand if you have high or good self esteem
your generally going to have a positive attitude and a pleasure for people to be around.I
think for the most part as I strive everyday to be a good person and to be successful at what
I do or what I am trying to accomplish I will continue to feel good about myself (self
esteem) which will allow me maintain a positive and much self respect. It also plays a big
part for me in treating people like you want to be treated. If you have respect for yourself
you tend to respect others. I believe that people with high self-esteem behave confidently in
life and their careers. This would also impact the way they think about themselves when in
long-term relationships. They value themselves and are at ease with whom and what they are
and that is important to me and my significant other. This leads to confidence in them
because they are happy with their place in the world and their professions. Individuals with
high self-esteem enable them to see their strengths and positive qualities clearly. People that
carry low self-esteem stops all of our efforts to be confident because you cannot value
yourself or who you are. I have found co-workers that have failed sales calls, because they
are not confident nor do they have high self-esteems. If you feel you are worthless then you
cannot respect yourself. With low self-esteem your confidence is damaged because you look
at yourself negatively and this creates self-doubts which prevent you from realizing your
potential in life and your personal relationships. This would also impact when giving
feedback to others. I believe that self-esteem is how you respect yourself, self-image is how
you see your physical appearance and self-value is how you morally and ethically view
yourself. It helps to differentiate between these three different things as it will give you a
deeper understanding of why you think and feel the way that you do. When you obtain
greater understanding, you are able to handle situations more appropriately.Self-esteem and
attitude matter because they project into the world and impact how you carry yourself and
how other's see you. I have come to realize that I don't care what people think of me, I do
care how I make people feel when they are around me. If you have a bad attitude, you are
not making anyone feel good. I am a mother of three and with self-image being so ever
important to children in school, I find it is necessary to show and teach my children the
importance of self worth and image, so that they are not swayed by others' words in
school. We can increase the amount of value and respect that we have for ourselves by
increasing the positive self talk, being more gracious and forgiving of our mistakes and
surrounding yourself with people who have a positive attitude and self-image. Self-Esteem
to me is confidence in yourself. Self-image is how you carry yourself. Self-value is your
worth. If you have an understanding of the difference it will help you build yourself up and
become successful. It presents positivity in your daily life.It is important to have self-esteem.
Without self-esteem you may not succeed as much as you could with it. It plays a strong role
in your life and future. Having Self-esteem and a positive attitude will help you have a
mindset that you are capable of anything you set out to do. You will be able to come back
from any obstacle that comes in your way. Some ways to increase our value and respect is to
surround yourself around positive energies. This will include people who may enjoy things
you do. People who build you up and have a positive outlook on life. If you are supported in
your life it helps to build your self-esteem therefore will increase your value and respect for
yourself. When you have negative focus in your life you tend to think negative. Self-esteem
helps build upon our inner confidence typically derived from our
achievements/accomplishments, good relationships and satisfaction. Self-image helps us
define with how we see ourselves, which then can support having successful relationships
and improvement of our well-being. Self-value has close connections to self-esteem,
whereas it is more as defining who you are and your self-worth/feeling of worthiness. It is
important to become aware of the differences between self-esteem, self-image and self-value
because although very close in connections, if you are not aware of each type it can be hard
to identify areas of improvement.Self-esteem and attitude matters because of the satisfactory
relationship it has. Feeling satisfied leads to a sense of accomplishment, fulfillment, and
happiness. Others can pick up onto your displayed emotions, which when happy can
gravitate others to want to be around you; however when you are angry other's can also
sense this and may be distant.Awareness is key when an individual wishes to assess upon
self-improvement. One must be able to understand the "WHY" behind their emotions, while
also being able to assess whether there are better reaction options. The want of constant
continual growth can overall lead to having a better self-esteem, self-image and self-value.
Self esteem is confidence that one has for themselves. They feel confident and secure in
their choices and actions. Self-image is accepting your flaws and strengths. When someone
has low self-image than they can be a very unhappy person and can be hard on themselves
and feel that they can never reach any of their goals set in life. I know not feel that everyone
is 100% okay with their self-image and believe that it is something that must be worked on.
Self-value is how we value our worth and what we may feel we are worthy of. These three
definitions all tie into together and help us to work on the issues that we may have within
ourselves. Self esteem and attitude matter because we must keep a good attitude and try to
think positive thoughts when doing something new or making new choices for ourselves. To
be confident in yourself I believe it first starts with your attitude. To increase our value and
respect for ourselves I believe it is important to take time out to take care of our mind and
body. Talking to friends and surrounding yourself with like minded people that want to see
you succeed in life is important and working out can help to release stress and is something
I do at least three times a week. The differences between self-esteem, self-image, and self-
value are that self-esteem is the confidence in yourself, self-image is the thought that one has
for ones abilities the way they look and how they carry themselves, and finally self-value is
the thought a person has about themselves and the value they place themselves in. So, self-
esteem and attitude matters because if you don't have a positive self-esteem you will not go
far in love you will mostly be alone and having a bad attitude in life will not get you far. No
person is going to socialize with you. I myself, know first had of this I have had to change
my attitude because I was in the same boat, nobody wanted to hangout because I had a bad
attitude about everything the person did or anything they suggested. They stopped calling,
texting and coming around. I then had to think to myself what I am doing wrong, so I
changed my mindset and they stayed coming back around. When people say your self-
esteem and your attitude doesn't matter they really matter in life. Self image is how we
define ourselves, both in personality and physically. Self value is how we measure our own
worthiness, on our terms and not my any other measure. Self esteem is the respect and
confidence that comes from ourselves. It's important to distinguish between the three, as all
of them affect our thinking differently. We may have self value in our charisma, but we will
still fail at a public speaking event if we lack self esteem. We need to improve our self talk to
affect a positive change in these attributes. Self esteem and attitude are crucial in
determining our self expectancy, which can set us up for both failure and success if it is not
handled correctly.
The best things we can do to increase how much we value and respect ourselves is to
intentionally seek out activities to reinforce our self esteem. We can find a group of like
minded people, or people with a shared hobby, to gain a sense of belonging. We can take the
time to acknowledge our accomplishments, to gain a sense of worthiness. This goes hand in
hand with positive thinking, as we won't take the time to do these things if negative self talk
keeps us from it. The differences between self-esteem, self-image, and self-value are
sometimes subtle, and some I know many people that use them interchangeably. That said,
there is a difference between each term. Self-esteem, for example, is defined by the text as,
"Having confidence in and respect for yourself." Self-Image means knowing what is true
about yourself; being able to identify the good and the bad about yourself. Self-value is
believing that you have value as a person. Differentiating between these terms is important
because they each mean something different. While all three terms are intertwined, we must
know the difference between them if we mean to improve them for ourselves. Self-esteem
and attitude matter because they describe how we see ourselves. Being able to respect and
have confidence in ourselves (self-esteem) shows that we probably have positive beliefs that
cause us to act positively (attitude). Being able to clearly identify this for ourselves makes it
possible to know what area of our lives we can improve upon.I think the most important
things we can do to improve how much we value and respect ourselves are to use
affirmations (positive statements about ourselves) and to work to improve our support
network. Using affirmations regularly can help us to make sure we know what we are good
at, showing we have value as people. Having a positive support network can help throughout
our lives, but especially where it comes to our value and the respect we have for ourselves.
The more we work with our support network, the more likely we are to see how much they
can rely on us and it can also allow us to see how much they value us. If we can see that
others value and respect us, maybe we will be able to see the same in ourselves. Self-esteem
is how you value yourself and your worth, which is self value and self-image is how you
view yourself by how you look or how you feel in your own skin. Self-esteem is how you
value yourself and it determines your worth from your own perspective and self-image is
more of an appearance of yourself for example do you think your pretty or do you think you
body is good or bad. It helps to differentiate the two because one is your value and one is
your appearance. Self-esteem and attitude matter because it determines your day if you have
high self-esteem your will probably have more positive days and if your self-esteem is low
your days will be more negative and possibly dealing with depression. I believe ways to
increase your value and respect is to first realize your worth and know that you are better
than you may realize. Also, being around positive people and ones that encourage you and
stand by to achieve your goals. It is great to be independent, but the people you are around
is a big influence of who you are. I think the start off I would definitely like to state that
while self image has some important roles and you should care about it to a certain extent
most people put way too much effort into self image. Self image in reality deals with the
surface level points of a person and a lot of it’s monetary value of a person. With that said I
do not care to really pay attention to stuff that’s only surface level on a person. I think I
would much rather deal with and value somebody’s personality and how they care about
others and how they respect others. A lot of that monetary and surface level image will come
with having a good self value and self-esteem to many people put self image first thinking
that it will build their self-esteem and self value which is almost never the case. When it
comes to building self value or for better word self-worth I believe you kind a need to take a
real approach and while it isn’t necessarily good to criticize yourself and you don’t want to
put too much into that. I believe to start out with if you need to take a real hard evaluation of
where you’re at now and then build on your competencies by doing this you make the things
you’re good at turn into the things you’re excellent at.
