The differences among self esteem, self image and self value
is Self esteem is your inner confidence and how you think
of yourself .Whereas though self image is how you view
yourself; yourself appearance, attitude, and self value is how
you value yourself. It helps you to differentiate among these
terms because how you are treated or carry yourself is a
large effect on your self esteem which becomes a domino
affect on how your self image and self value . I
honestly believe you have to have high self esteem to
even acknowledge your self value or self image most people
with low self esteem don't even acknowledge their self value
or care about their image or how they present themselves.
Self esteem and attitude matters because with a positive
attitude towards life and yourself uplifts your self esteem.
However low self esteem people comes with a give up
,no goals and a negative attitudes. To increase how much
we value and respect ourselves we should give our self
positive affirmations, always expect ourselves to succeed in
anything we do and believe we can achieve what we want
in life. Self esteem has a lot to do with how people
feel about themselves. It is a build up to your value
and how you tend to feel within yourself every single
day. It is a moment in which you opt to be a
greater person and self. Self image shows how you compose
yourself in a physical manner. How well you take care of
yourself in regards to dressing up when the opportunity
presents itself and being proper at all times. In regards to
self value I think has a lot to do with how you
know yourself every day. Know that your worth is a very
important and act upon it. It is important to know the
differences in order to be able to combine them. I feel
they go hand on hand but knowing the occasion in which
to present it would help.
Self estimate has everything to do with attitude. The attitude
a person has contributes to the self esteem the person will
be creating for themselves in the long run either good or
bad. One of the things I hear many people do is
maintaining positive notes around them. Another thing I have
heard do is to write down positivity items about oneself
when negative attitude comes up. It helps us know our
value and therefore it increases the respect we will have
to ourselves and expect from others. I do believe that
some things that can help improve our value and respect
to others would be to practice some type of religion.
Religion and spirituality are both rooted in trying to understand
the meaning of life and, in some cases, how a relationship
with a higher power may influence that meaning. While
religion and spirituality are similar in foundation, they are
very different in practice. To me self-image is how you
view yourself, my abilities, my appearance, my highs, and
my lows. Things such as my red hair which is appearance,
my ability to be funny, and me going through depression
where I have highs and lows.Self -esteem is how much
value myself or how much I'm worth and how I respect
my self-image. Something like I feel like I'm a good
person and I'm always looking out for others before myself,
so I believe that I will get my blessings one day. Also
the way I carry myself and dress shows how much I
respect myself as well.To me self-esteem and your attitude
matters for a lot of different reasons, for one they work
hand and hand. If I have low self-esteem about myself
then my attitude will be horrible. Which will give of a
bad self-image about me.Some things we can do to increase
how much we value and respect ourselves is to think
positive thoughts. Be fore we do something stop and ask
ourselves, "Is this how I want to been as"? Respecting
ourselves first will help us in making sure everyone else
does. My self esteem is how you feel inside self. It is
attitude you feel and it show on the outside of you.
The high self-esteem is self feeling you believe of your
of positive attitudes helping you stay on track. Now if
you have low self-esteem attitude it can be a negative self
feeling in side. It is your choice that you have control
of it with in you. For me personally feeling a high
self esteem makes me feel good and help me with my
daily ways. I do not time for being in low self-esteem
attitude. Life is to short for a down feeling negative and
having a bad feeling. I enjoy surrounding myself with positive
people that have a high happy (High Self Esteem. It is
important to know the difference between the two attitude.
(High and Low self-esteem. Self esteem is how you feel
about yourself. It relates to how you feel about your
choices and actions Self image is how you believe you
are presenting yourself to the outside world. Self value is
how you feel about your worthiness. For most people, it
is hard to differentiate between the three. It is important
to know the difference because you can see the areas that
you need to work on,
To me, self esteem and attitude matter because if you
have negative thoughts about yourself, it tends to lead you
down a negative road. I have personally fought through this
for quite a few years, but a positive attitude and self
esteem helps to lead you down the road to success.
I believe the best way to increase how much we value
and respect ourselves is to continuously strive to achieve our
goals. For me personally, knowing I have put in hard
work to achieve my goals and at least be on the right
path makes me feel really good about myself. Also surrounding
yourself with people with positive attitudes helps to keep you
positive when times get tough. The differences between self-
esteem, self-image, and self-value are that self-esteem and self-
image people get confused with because people start looking
at themselves the way other people look at them. They
forget that self- image is what other people opinion is of
you but your self-esteem is what you think of yourself.
To me, the reason why it helps to differentiate among the
terms is that each person may take a defeat or a
mistake they may have made in different ways. The way
your self-esteem works is if a person, for example, points
out a mistake that you made during a project and you
get entirely emotional and start to shout then another would
be if someone tries to show you out during a project
by pointing out your mistake and you turn around and
smile instead of getting upset. If your self esteem is low
that person pointing out your mistake will get to you
because your depending on that self-image something that is
their opinion of you but if you know your worth and
looks at yourself as being okay after what the person did
and said then you can move on from the situation that
is your self-esteem playing its part. You have to know
your worth and know the difference in your opinion of
yourself and someone else opinion of you because their
opinion shouldn't matter it is what you think of yourself.
Some people may find it easier said than done and I
am one of those people depending on who the person is
I might take some words to heart. Some things that could
work to increase how much we value and respect ourselves
are trying to avoid letting the opinions of others influence
the way that you think of yourself. Another way would
be not letting someone else change the person you were
born to be and learn to control your emotions so that
they are not all over the place. Increase your knowledge
of things don't let what someone else tells you be what
you think. Read about things so you can get more of
an understanding. I believe self-esteem is how you, as a
person, feels about yourself. Some people have high self-esteem
and others have low self-esteem. People who tend to have
higher self-esteem, tend to think highly of themselves, and
have a higher self confidence. While people with low self
-esteem, do not believe in themselves, and think they are
not worthy, or good enough for certain things.Self image to
me, is a way a person carries themselves, from their
clothes, shoes, house, car and demeanor. For some, self image
is very important, especially if they have a certain career,
or if they want others to think highly of them. Self-value
is how a person feels about their worth. For example, if
a woman is looking for a man to date, or vice versa,
she might have a certain standard that the man must meet,
or else she will not date him, because she will feel
like he is not good enough for her.I do feel like having
high self-esteem, with a good attitude is important. Others
portray you, on how you portray yourself. If you are
always negative and mean, people will not want to be
around you. You will not get hired for jobs either. So
having a positive and happy attitude are very important to
me. I believe self-esteem and self-image work hand in hand.
I think that self-esteem is how a person actually feels
about themself internally and self-image is how a person
views their appearance and capabilities/skills. From personal
observations and experience it often seems that someone with
low self-esteem tends to have less than desirable views on
their self-image.I do believe that having high self-esteem and
a positive attitude and view of your self-image matter a
great deal to a persons chances of success and dealing
with life in general. A positive outlook and attitude often
leads to positive outcomes. A person who is negative with
low self-esteem and poor self-image often loses motivation and
may give up or not try which will have negative and
very undesirable outcomes in life. Personally, achieving goals,
having integrity, helping others, and taking care of my family
are things that increase how much I value and respect
myself. I also think that the people we choose to surround
ourselves with can have a lot to do with how much
we value and respect ourselves. Self-esteem, self-image and self-
value have some differences. Self-esteem is valuing your worth
as a person. When you have self-esteem you feel confident
about who you are inside. Self-esteem comes from within.
Unlike, self-esteem, self-image is how we feel others view
us. A lot of times our self-image is based off of what
others think of us. Self Value makes us feel worthy and
valued no matter if our self esteem or self image may
not be feeling that way. You can have a positive self
image and have poor self esteem.Self-esteem and attitude matter
because they give you motivation to move on. We need
to have confidence to succeed and we need to feel worthy
of achieving success. Some things that we may do to increase
our self value and respect may be to try to keep a
positive attitude about life. I feel that if we surround
ourselves with positive, good people that can help. Try not
to complain if something is wrong, try to find a solution
to the problem. Also, we can't worry about what we can't
change. For me self esteem is how you feel about yourself,
I believe self image is how you feel you look to
yourself or other people and lastly self value is how much
respect someone has for them self.I think it helps to
differentiate them because you can feel good about yourself
(self-esteem) and not feel good about the way you look
(self image) and still have self value (respect) for yourself.I
think you can have high self esteem because your happy
and successful, but have low self image due to weight
gain after child birth and still have self value.I believe
self esteem and attitude go hand in hand. I say that
because generally if you have low self esteem your not
going to be a very happy person so that in turn results
in a negative attitude. On the other hand if you have
high or good self esteem your generally going to have a
positive attitude and a pleasure for people to be around.I
think for the most part as I strive everyday to be a
good person and to be successful at what I do or what
I am trying to accomplish I will continue to feel good
about myself (self esteem) which will allow me maintain a
positive and much self respect. It also plays a big part
for me in treating people like you want to be treated.
If you have respect for yourself you tend to respect others.
I believe that people with high self-esteem behave confidently
in life and their careers. This would also impact the way
they think about themselves when in long-term relationships.
They value themselves and are at ease with whom and
what they are and that is important to me and my
significant other. This leads to confidence in them because
they are happy with their place in the world and their
professions. Individuals with high self-esteem enable them to see
their strengths and positive qualities clearly. People that carry
low self-esteem stops all of our efforts to be confident
because you cannot value yourself or who you are. I have
found co-workers that have failed sales calls, because they
are not confident nor do they have high self-esteems. If
you feel you are worthless then you cannot respect yourself.
With low self-esteem your confidence is damaged because you
look at yourself negatively and this creates self-doubts which
prevent you from realizing your potential in life and your
personal relationships. This would also impact when giving
feedback to others. I believe that self-esteem is how you
respect yourself, self-image is how you see your physical
appearance and self-value is how you morally and ethically
view yourself. It helps to differentiate between these three
different things as it will give you a deeper understanding
of why you think and feel the way that you do. When
you obtain greater understanding, you are able to handle
situations more appropriately.Self-esteem and attitude matter because
they project into the world and impact how you carry
yourself and how other's see you. I have come to realize
that I don't care what people think of me, I do care
how I make people feel when they are around me. If
you have a bad attitude, you are not making anyone feel
good. I am a mother of three and with self-image being
so ever important to children in school, I find it is
necessary to show and teach my children the importance of
self worth and image, so that they are not swayed by
others' words in school. We can increase the amount of value
and respect that we have for ourselves by increasing the
positive self talk, being more gracious and forgiving of our
mistakes and surrounding yourself with people who have a
positive attitude and self-image. Self-Esteem to me is confidence
in yourself. Self-image is how you carry yourself. Self-value
is your worth. If you have an understanding of the
difference it will help you build yourself up and become
successful. It presents positivity in your daily life.It is
important to have self-esteem. Without self-esteem you may not
succeed as much as you could with it. It plays a strong
role in your life and future. Having Self-esteem and a
positive attitude will help you have a mindset that you
are capable of anything you set out to do. You will
be able to come back from any obstacle that comes in
your way. Some ways to increase our value and respect is
to surround yourself around positive energies. This will include
people who may enjoy things you do. People who build
you up and have a positive outlook on life. If you are
supported in your life it helps to build your self-esteem
therefore will increase your value and respect for yourself.
When you have negative focus in your life you tend to
think negative. Self-esteem helps build upon our inner confidence
typically derived from our achievements/accomplishments, good
relationships and satisfaction. Self-image helps us define with
how we see ourselves, which then can support having
successful relationships and improvement of our well-being. Self-
value has close connections to self-esteem, whereas it is more
as defining who you are and your self-worth/feeling of
worthiness. It is important to become aware of the differences
between self-esteem, self-image and self-value because although
very close in connections, if you are not aware of each
type it can be hard to identify areas of improvement.Self-
esteem and attitude matters because of the satisfactory relationship
it has. Feeling satisfied leads to a sense of accomplishment,
fulfillment, and happiness. Others can pick up onto your
displayed emotions, which when happy can gravitate others to
want to be around you; however when you are angry
other's can also sense this and may be distant.Awareness is
key when an individual wishes to assess upon self-improvement.
One must be able to understand the "WHY" behind their
emotions, while also being able to assess whether there are
better reaction options. The want of constant continual growth
can overall lead to having a better self-esteem, self-image
and self-value. Self esteem is confidence that one has for
themselves. They feel confident and secure in their choices
and actions. Self-image is accepting your flaws and strengths.
When someone has low self-image than they can be a
very unhappy person and can be hard on themselves and
feel that they can never reach any of their goals set in
life. I know not feel that everyone is 100% okay with
their self-image and believe that it is something that must
be worked on. Self-value is how we value our worth and
what we may feel we are worthy of. These three definitions
all tie into together and help us to work on the issues
that we may have within ourselves. Self esteem and attitude
matter because we must keep a good attitude and try to
think positive thoughts when doing something new or making
new choices for ourselves. To be confident in yourself I
believe it first starts with your attitude. To increase our
value and respect for ourselves I believe it is important
to take time out to take care of our mind and body.
Talking to friends and surrounding yourself with like minded
people that want to see you succeed in life is important
and working out can help to release stress and is something
I do at least three times a week. The differences between
self-esteem, self-image, and self-value are that self-esteem is the
confidence in yourself, self-image is the thought that one has
for ones abilities the way they look and how they carry
themselves, and finally self-value is the thought a person has
about themselves and the value they place themselves in. So,
self-esteem and attitude matters because if you don't have a
positive self-esteem you will not go far in love you will
mostly be alone and having a bad attitude in life will
not get you far. No person is going to socialize with
you. I myself, know first had of this I have had to
change my attitude because I was in the same boat, nobody
wanted to hangout because I had a bad attitude about
everything the person did or anything they suggested. They
stopped calling, texting and coming around. I then had to
think to myself what I am doing wrong, so I changed
my mindset and they stayed coming back around. When
people say your self-esteem and your attitude doesn't matter
they really matter in life. Self image is how we define
ourselves, both in personality and physically. Self value is
how we measure our own worthiness, on our terms and
not my any other measure. Self esteem is the respect and
confidence that comes from ourselves. It's important to distinguish
between the three, as all of them affect our thinking
differently. We may have self value in our charisma, but
we will still fail at a public speaking event if we lack
self esteem. We need to improve our self talk to affect a
positive change in these attributes. Self esteem and attitude
are crucial in determining our self expectancy, which can set
us up for both failure and success if it is not handled
correctly.
The best things we can do to increase how much we
value and respect ourselves is to intentionally seek out
activities to reinforce our self esteem. We can find a
group of like minded people, or people with a shared
hobby, to gain a sense of belonging. We can take the
time to acknowledge our accomplishments, to gain a sense
of worthiness. This goes hand in hand with positive thinking,
as we won't take the time to do these things if negative
self talk keeps us from it. The differences between self-
esteem, self-image, and self-value are sometimes subtle, and
some I know many people that use them interchangeably.
That said, there is a difference between each term. Self-
esteem, for example, is defined by the text as, "Having
confidence in and respect for yourself." Self-Image means
knowing what is true about yourself; being able to identify
the good and the bad about yourself. Self-value is believing
that you have value as a person. Differentiating between these
terms is important because they each mean something different.
While all three terms are intertwined, we must know the
difference between them if we mean to improve them for
ourselves. Self-esteem and attitude matter because they describe
how we see ourselves. Being able to respect and have
confidence in ourselves (self-esteem) shows that we probably
have positive beliefs that cause us to act positively (attitude).
Being able to clearly identify this for ourselves makes it
possible to know what area of our lives we can improve
upon.I think the most important things we can do to
improve how much we value and respect ourselves are to
use affirmations (positive statements about ourselves) and to
work to improve our support network. Using affirmations regularly
can help us to make sure we know what we are good
at, showing we have value as people. Having a positive
support network can help throughout our lives, but especially
where it comes to our value and the respect we have
for ourselves. The more we work with our support network,
the more likely we are to see how much they can rely
on us and it can also allow us to see how much
they value us. If we can see that others value and
respect us, maybe we will be able to see the same in
ourselves. Self-esteem is how you value yourself and your
worth, which is self value and self-image is how you view
yourself by how you look or how you feel in your
own skin. Self-esteem is how you value yourself and it
determines your worth from your own perspective and self-
image is more of an appearance of yourself for example
do you think your pretty or do you think you body is
good or bad. It helps to differentiate the two because one
is your value and one is your appearance. Self-esteem and
attitude matter because it determines your day if you have
high self-esteem your will probably have more positive days
and if your self-esteem is low your days will be more
negative and possibly dealing with depression. I believe ways
to increase your value and respect is to first realize your
worth and know that you are better than you may realize.
Also, being around positive people and ones that encourage
you and stand by to achieve your goals. It is great to
be independent, but the people you are around is a big
influence of who you are. I think the start off I would
definitely like to state that while self image has some
important roles and you should care about it to a certain
extent most people put way too much effort into self
image. Self image in reality deals with the surface level
points of a person and a lot of it’s monetary value of
a person. With that said I do not care to really pay
attention to stuff that’s only surface level on a person. I
think I would much rather deal with and value somebody’s
personality and how they care about others and how they
respect others. A lot of that monetary and surface level
image will come with having a good self value and self-
esteem to many people put self image first thinking that
it will build their self-esteem and self value which is
almost never the case. When it comes to building self
value or for better word self-worth I believe you kind a
need to take a real approach and while it isn’t necessarily
good to criticize yourself and you don’t want to put too
much into that. I believe to start out with if you need
to take a real hard evaluation of where you’re at now
and then build on your competencies by doing this you
make the things you’re good at turn into the things you’re
excellent at.
