I chose the United States Post Office for the agency that impacts my daily life. This agency
delivers our daily mail and packages. The first policy implementation that makes a big
difference is when they up the price of shipping items. At times they need to raise their
shipping due to the price of inflation. It usually isn't much but over time these prices go up.
Just a 15 years ago a stamp was $.39 and now $.58. The second policy change that has
impacted us is the Forever Stamps. Like most people we would buy stamps and then by the
time I mailed something again the price goes up or the old stamps are no good. With the
forever stamp you purchase at the going rate and it doesn't expire. Now the only thing that
you have to worry is loosing them before you use them. The 3rd policy that they
implemented that has made a difference in my life is the Sunday deliveries. Recently my
daughter had knee surgery and I need to order a ice pack that could wrap around her knee. I
could not find one in a local store. I found one on Amazon I ordered this ice pack and it was
delivered that Sunday. My daughter's surgery was Monday. We was able to get the ice pack
and have it frozen when she came home the next day. This happened because of their policy
change and the agreement they made with Amazon. The department I have selected is the
Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The first policy implemented by DHS that I'd like
to touch on is the Healthcare Sector Cybersecurity Framework Implementation. Developed
when President Obama was in office, this policy works to provide more security for medical
officials, such as hospitals, who use electronic records for patients. This policy was
developed and implemented due to the growing number of cyber attacks and sensitive
patient information that was being compromised. DHS was created in 2002, after the 911
attacks, and their primary focus has been to stop terrorist attacks before they can happen.
DHS works with agencies on state, federal and international levels to obtain information of
possible terrorists. In January of 2017, the President issued an Executive Order, Protecting
the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States, which paused the entry to the
United States from countries such as Iran, Syria, and Yemen, just to name a few, due to their
support of terrorist activity. The pause was temporary while screenings were performed on
these countries to ensure that they could basically be trusted to enter into the United States.
This executive order provided DHS with additional resources to help keep America and it
citizens safe and free of terrorist attacks. Looking at the list of government agencies and
services that impact my everyday life and personal is a long list. I first want to address the
Head of Excutive branches. Viting is the most important, making sure your have the right
Elected officials in place that's has the same interest as you for your needs. This is Federal,
State or Local officials. One impact is school, l received student loans and grants to pay for
my education. Education is key to obtain a high paying career to financially support yourself
and your family. There’s medical benefits that we needs as we get older such as Medicare or
Medicaid if no insurance. Another government agency the effects my daily life is the food
and drug administration. We need officials to ensure the food and medication we consume is
safe. Right now the biggest concern for everyone is the covid19 vaccine. Many feels it was
created too fast. Another l would like to address is our Military, these individuals risks their
lives for this country and should be well taken care of by the government. You see so many
stories of veterans that are homeless and have no medical care. America is a great country
and we can do so much better for it people. We need everyone to work together for the good
of everyone. Food and Drug Administration would be the one agency of the Federal
Government that has the most significant impact on me professionally. I work as a
coordinator for a mammography company and have to assist with annual inspections. The
FDA has to perform yearly inspections to meet quality standards for personnel, equipment,
maximum allowable radiation dose, quality assurance, and medical audit. Also, the FDA
verifies that a certified technologist in mammography is performing each mammogram. As a
correctional officer the department in the federal government that has the most significant
impact on me both personally and professionally is the Bureau of prisons. The bureau of
prisons main job is to protect society by confining offenders to a controlled environment of
a prison or community based facility, that is safe, humane, cost effecient, secure, and
provides work and other self-improvement opportunities to help transform offenders into
law abiding citizens.One policy that has impacted my daily work and personal activities is
the implemation of the mental health and wellness policy. As it has been found through
research, correction officers and staff members of an institution as well as the offenders that
are housed in an institution see and experience henious violent acts and are more times than
not traumatized and have to have some type of mental help and with this policy staff and
offenders recieve the treatment they need in order to get back to a normal life.Another policy
that impacts me is the mandatory training policy. There are often times when I do not get a
choice when my training comes up and it interfers with my time off or with my work day
and the daily activities. One federal government program that impacts my life is the Centers
for Medicare and Medicaid and their policies. Medicaid is a program to help low-income
families to be able to receive healthcare for free or at little cost for young people up to age
twenty-one. Medicare is a healthcare program for people aged sixty-five and older or under
sixty-five with a disability. This particular program impacts my life because I work in
healthcare and in the healthcare world, we follow CMS (Centers for Medicare and
Medicaid) guidelines. Healthcare providers also get paid based upon the Medicare/Medicare
fee schedule.The next government agency that impacts my life is the Department of Labor.
The Department of Labor created, maintains, and enforces laws for workers to have a safe
work environment, the minimum wage laws, and unemployment. When I started working in
the year 1996 in the state of Tennessee minimum wage was $4.75 over the years it has
increased to $7.25 as of 2021. Mental health care is needed by all whether you're the one
dealing with it or the one who is taking care of the one dealing with it. I recently had an
employee come to me with some issues and I could not believe the lack of mental health
hotlines for people in crisis. But I was able to fine 1 numbers for him. It through our
insurance which he just happened to have and can use. So I also agree that there should be
more ways for people to reach out. Not everyone has access to insurance hotlines. Or like in
this case he came to me looking for a way to get help and had no idea this hotline existed.

lives more so in the last wo years. The CDC has information on COVID19 tools for testing
and other information information such as food safety. Thus gas been an issue during the
pandemic as well. Due to COVID19 breaks, many food establishments have had to close due
to employees been sick. Having to find ways to serve their product and keep employees and
consumer safe. Business really depend on the CD for guidance on what safe. Other areas
would be safe water, new outbreaks and public health benefits around the world.The CDC
has had great impact on our lives over the past two years. They've truly been a staple
through the entire Covid-19 process and really worked to guide us through. The website is
very informative and helps to keep us up to date on the latest numbers. The information
pertaining to quarantine and isolation is particularly helpful, especially when the guidelines
were changed recently. Some would disagree that the CDC played a significant role in the
Covid-19 pandemic as far as working to keep the spread at bay but it has been clear from
day one that our health and safety was top priority for them. CDC has made a significant
impact on our lives especially in the last couple years. Having a place where we can go to
find out about what the statistics, outbreaks and even international stats on diseases is
incredibly helpful. They also give us updates on what they have been able to discover about
cures and further developments with diseases.
