Critical thinking is basically having clear understanding of a situation. characteristics
of a critical thinker would be to to understand very well of a certain topic. A critical
thinker also pays attention to details of occurring issues. I've observed a lot of people
with avoidance in certain situations. Avoidance is to best alleviate stress when talking
about problems. the best way to avoid those barriers is to better understand the person
of where they are coming from. its possible to solve the problems when you can
understand from one individual to another. When i was reflecting on the activities, I
learned how to be more understanding of others opinion and be respectful. Critical
thinking is coming to a conclusion by weighing out different option before making the
final decision. This a well thought out process which including many different
outcomes, avenues and changes. Characteristics of a critical thinker is analytical,
reading, and communication skills. A critical thinker need to posses these skill to be
able to make sound decision based of research and evidence. Barriers for a critical
thinkers can include being bias, self centered, not understanding, resistant, and over
confident. This come with not being able to trust the judgement of others or thinking
that your way is the right way. The most interesting concept this week is the topic
itself. I had already considered myself a critical thinker and I could see many barriers
within myself after reading this weeks chapter. The barrier that coincided with me the
most, was not being able to trust the judgment of others. It gave me a lot of insight
about myself and help me to see things about myself that I didn't realize before. I
didn't find anything confusing about this week the concepts where very clear and easy
to grasp. Based on this weeks reading critical thinking to me is about weighing out
your options when coming across you having to make an informed decision. It is
about evaluating an issue in order to form a judgement and create a solution. Critical
thinking makes you gather your evidence to help you resolve the issue and it also
pushes you to make unbiased or spontaneous choices. Some characteristics in a critical
thinker include: confidence, open mindedness, analytical skills, and effective
communicator. I think having these characteristics helps you be more effective in
problem solving, because not only are you analyzing the issue but you have the
capacity to break it down and form solutions. You are open to receiving information
rather than creating a barrier. Just like critical thinkers have special characteristics,
there is also characteristics that are opposing, those are called barriers. Some barriers
include: anger, ego, resistance, and narrow mindedness. These barriers do not make
for a productive solution as they tend to break effective communication in problem
solving. Not making yourself available to new and other ideas will only enclose you
in habits and not enable a growth in learning.
I think figuring out what stage in cognitive development we belong in was interesting.
Reading through that section I realized that I have belonged to all three: dualism,
relativism, and commitment throughout different stages in my work and educational
career. It was interesting to think back about experiences about when I was in each
stage and realizing the growth I experience today placing myself in a commitment
stage. I would define critical thinking as using reasoning to make judgments that are
both logical and well-thought out. With critical thinking, one does not simply accept
any argument or conclusion but rather questions them. Some characteristics of a
critical thinker are inquisitiveness about a wide range of topics, concern to always be
well-informed, attentive for chances to use critical thinking, confidence in one’s ability
to reason, and open-mindedness about views which differ from one’s own. Some
common barriers to critical thinking include being self-centered, group thinking, social
conditioning, bias or prejudice, pressure from others, and stubbornness. I think that the
simplest way for people to overcome such obstacles to critical thinking is to strive to
remain open-minded. Basically, if we think for ourselves without regard to the
expectations of others we are more likely to practice critical thinking. However, by
keeping an open mind, we must also entertain the thoughts and opinions of others. I
think that the thing that struck me the most this week is that I am already a critical
thinker, at least part of the time. Critical thinking is not an exercise that is reserved
for philosophy or math problems, but rather it can be successfully used in normal
daily life. Based on this week’s reading and activities, the way I would define critical
thinking is when you gather evidence, evaluate it, and coming up with a plan of
action is the way you come with what you think and asking your self why you are
thinking that and why not a different way. Some characteristics of a critical thinker
are Analytical Skills, communication and reading skill including listening, speaking,
and writing skills, Research and Inquiry Skills, Flexibility and Tolerance for
Ambiguity, Open-Minded Skepticism, Creative Problem-Solving, Attention,
Mindfulness, and Curiosity, and Collaborative Learning. What I see as common
barriers to critical thinking are Resistance, Narrow-Mindedness, Rationalization and
Doublethink . The way that someone might overcome or avoid those barriers to be
open minded and to not be angry, be more knowledgeable about what you are
thinking, also avoid conformity if you disagree speak up. Reflecting on the learning
activities, concepts, ideas, and topics covered this week. the most interesting activity
or concept i learned this week was the ways you can avoid barriers of a critical
thinker. I think critical thinking is what we face everyday. its just choices that life
throws at us. And its up to us to figure out what the right choice is. And it doesn't
have to be a choice from right or wrong. Sometimes we ask ourselves what is the
best choice for us in this moment. For me, I tend to spend a lot of time thinking
about my future and my career. I'm still young, i'm only 21 years old and i feel like
i have to make this huge decision. And if i make the wrong choice then it will
destroy my life forever. But that's just me being young and naive. A lot of people tell
me "you have plenty of time" And I don't think that helps me figure out what i want
to do. If anything that just makes it harder for me. Because then i'll just forget about
it and then stress about it again later.I think being Open minded is a big characteristic
of critical thinking. I'm very understanding, but when i believe in what is right that's
what i'm sticking with. And i will complete respect another's opinion and understand
what they think. I'm not the type of person to just belittle someone or make someone
feel less than because they don't believe in what i believe in. Another characteristic
for me is probably common sense. I think it's important to think outside of the box
but you also have to think realistically. For example, If I had plans to stay in and do
homework but a friend of mine is like "hey let's go do something tonight" and i
know there's no way i'm going to finish my work in time, it wouldn't make sense for
me to try to do both. Obviously i would tell my friend "sorry I can't tonight" even
though i really want to go out.I think the biggest barrier of critical thinking is just
being human. We all have emotions and beliefs that sometimes stop us from being
open minded or moving forward in life. Things like anger and pride, those are just
human reactions that we all have. I think it's up to us on how we deal with it.
Because only you can change you, no one else can make you do anything. So for me
when i get upset or angry, Lately i've been working on trying to calm myself down
and think through it. And it works because we don't think when we're angry. But i've
gotten a lot better with that. Now i know how to just walk away from the situation
instead of letting it get out of hand. I can collect my thoughts and return with a clear
mind to solve the problem.I learned that we used critical thinking everyday, And that
it's not just something we use in our academic lives but in our everyday lives as well.
I never realized how much i use critical thinking throughout my day. But i use it
very often and i'm sure all of us use it often as well. I thought that was really cool
to know. being able to have the skills to analyze and evaluate an issue to make
unbiased judgement. Having the capabilities to gather evidence, evaluate it, and get a
plan of action. It requires you to have logic and a collection of everyday skills that
are needed for our full and intellectual and personal development. There are a few, 9
at first but then cut down to 3. Dualism, relativism, and commitment are the three it
was shortened down to. A few of the other characteristics are effective
communication, research and inquiry, flexibility and tolerance, open-minded skepticism,
creative problem solving, attention, mindfulness, and curiosity and collaborative
learning. Common barriers to critical thinking are stress, narrow-mindedness,
avoidance, anger, clichés, denial, ignorance, conformity, struggling, and distractions.
One way a person might avoid these barriers is by being around role models who are
already skilled in critical thinking. Having a willingness to change your mind about a
position considering conflicting evidence. Also, by sharpening your critical-thinking
skills you can become more independent and less susceptible to world-views. I really
enjoyed the characteristics of critical thinking part of the reading. It was interesting to
learn about all the things that make someone a good critical thinker. Although it was
a lot of information to take in. What did surprise me was the Barriers of being a
good critical thinker. It mentions distractions as one of the barriers, which I can agree
with, but in the description of distractions it lists loud music or television as examples
of what can be distracting to some people that are good critical thinkers. I personally
feel as though I can think better when I have my music on loud and singing the
words, or the tv playing in the background. It takes a lot to be a good critical
thinker, I guess it is up to the person to decide if they want to make the changes to
be one. A collection of skills that help us identify and solve issues using sound
judgement and a healthy dose of skepticism when analyzing a situation. Short of being
a cynic, critical thinking allows us as individuals to decipher day-to-day information
through a set of pre-determined steps that sift out unsound data.Critical thinkers share
many characteristics, among them the ability to deconstruct complex concepts to then
in turn analyze the smaller concepts. Analytical skills, effective communication,
research and inquiry skills, and open minded skepticism are other characteristics shared
by critical thinkers. Just because information is handed from an authority, it doesn’t
mean it cannot thoughtfully be questioned to a critical thinker. Other traits such as
creative problem solving, attention mindfulness and curiosity, collaborative learning
help critical thinkers synthesize new ideas.I do agree with this week’s reading on
confirmation bias being a huge hurdle when processing information. Logical fallacies
as a whole are dangerous pitfalls when interpreting information. Avoidance is another
technique used, being inside of a echo-chamber where you only surround yourself with
those that share your point of view can be a difficult barrier to overcome. I found the
stages of a new college student, stage one being dualism through stage three of
commitment to be not only fascinating but also very spot on and a sort of rite of
passage. Critical thinking is when you triage a situation before you make a decision
and you also have to have proof to support your decision. Some characteristics of
critical thinking that stuck out to me were being attentive to opportunities to make
critical decisions and understanding the opinions of others. Also, being open minded
to different ideas from other. Some common barriers that people can avoid are being
closed minded, resistance to new ideas and being arrogant. People display these
behaviors on a regular basis and I have found myself doing this and I didn't even
realize it fell under critical thinking. I have had a lot of wait a minute moments when
it comes to critical thinking. I really enjoyed the videos because it made me realize
what critical thinking really was. Critical thinking is digging down deep and using the
skills and previous knowledge that you posses to make a decision on something.
When you are critically thinking on an issue or question you are going to be able
think deeply and use a pros and cons scenario to come up with the correct answer to
the questions or situation. Some characteristics of being a critical thinker are being
able to analyze a question or situation and how you can organize your thoughts to be
able to communicate them effectively to someone. Making rash decisions or speaking
or coming to a conlcusions before really analyzing the situations and covering all the
possible outcomes. I think that the self evaluator was the most interesting thing in the
reading this week was the self evaluating tool, the questions that it asked and the way
I rated them surprised me a little when I really stepped back and thought about the
answer and how I would handle a situation. When I dug deep and evaluated how I
would go about something made me understand and realize how I got there. It made
me realize once I come to a conclusion I have my mind made up and I stick to it.
Critical thinking is thinking on or analyzing a situation based on your own personal
experiences, what you believe to be correct based on the evidence you find, and what
is morally right to you in order to make the best decision. Some characteristics of a
critical thinker is having the confidence to analyze and provide facts for what you
believe, being able to communicate effectively your idea or thought whether in person
or in writing, the ability to find information that supports my theory, being able to
adapt to change, being open-minded to other opinions factual or personal, showing
empathy and paying attention, effective problem solving, and learning to work with a
team. Common barriers to critical thinking are denial, ignorance, distractions,
avoidance from task or things you are not familiar with. You can overcome these
barriers by doing your own research, analyzing the information found and effective
communicating what is is that you believe with supporting facts. Being a frequent
critical thinker will build the confidence needed to overcome barriers. The most
interesting activity from this week would have to be the "Barriers to critical thinking"
activity. That activity and video helped me recognize where and when my barriers
start to distract me from the finial thought or action. my understanding is that critical
thinking is a collection of skills that allows you to make informed decisions and be a
problem solver. Some characteristics of a critical thinker include flexibility, which can
help you overcome challenges instead of becoming frustrated. Another characteristic of
critical thinking is open mindedness, being open minded can help you learn from others
perspectives and using that to create your own. It also allows you to grow and learn
from yourself and others. Resistance, avoidance, anger, denial/ignorance are a few of
the common barriers in critical thinking that limit us from learning from our past
experiences and prevent us from viewing the perspective of others. It is important to
understand the different barriers we may come across so we can learn to overcome
them and prevent it from holding us back. These barriers can affect the way you view
things and affect your decision making process if you do not make an attempt to
change and overcome them. Many of us have faced many of these barriers at some
point in our lives, speaking from personal experience in the past I have struggled with
resistance and being narrow minded. Over time I was able to step back and analyze
myself and make a change to better myself and become a better critical thinker. The
activity I enjoyed the most and feel was most informative were the videos on critical
thinking. The examples used in the videos were easy to follow and helped me get a
better understanding of how barriers can affect someone. Critical Thinking is looking
at a situation on a deeper level and formulating your own opinion. The same applies
when trying to resolve a problem or refine an approach. The modern world provides
these in abundance and readily available via social media, which is why it's so
important to be careful and find what you believe and best fits your situation. Critical
thinking requires open mindedness and effective communication. People aren't always
going to agree, and that is what makes us so special. Individuality leads to innovation.
Conformity can be ideal, if like minds share the same vision or passion. If it's forced
it can be destructive, which is why it's important to ask questions and be willing and
open to intellectual discussion. Personally, I enjoyed the video's. They were a good
refresher and help set the tone for this week's material. It's easy to forget how vital
critical thinking is and how we use it every day & don't even realize it. Critical
thinking is the ability to strategize the use of people, resources and equipment in
order to execute a plan for reaching a specified goal. It’s being able to identify and
task the right people with the right assignments to complete a job, it’s listening when
there is no sound and speaking about unspoken topics. Critical thinking is a display of
maturity, it’s clever and defiant at the same time.Critical thinkers have open minds
and they enjoy conversations with people that want to experience an even exchange of
topics leading to intellectual stimulation. Critical thinkers are motivators and
champions of growth for the greater good. Critical thinkers listen, they read, they
inspire and they get on your nerves sometimes.I’m going to share my personal barrier
to critical thinking. I’m a conformist by nature. I learned at a very young age that
speaking up or out was a ‘no-no’. I was not taught to express or manage heated,
uncomfortable or confusing interactions. With growth and education, I became more
aware of who I am. The toughest battle that I’ve had thus far is how angry I am at
myself whenever ‘conforming’ is present. Have you ever behaved a certain way for a
long period of time and then one day pick up a book and discover what you do has
a name? That’s how I feel about what I’ve read. After reading about developing a
rational life plan, I felt elated and deflated. Elated because finally I have learned
something useful. Deflated because I imagine if I had know this all along, I’d be
fulfilled personally and professionally. Critical thinking is a process we all us in some
way in order to pass a judgement or come to a solution. I believe everyone uses
critical thinking in some way. Some of us may be more in detail as others may just
go with the basics to form their opinion or come up with a solution. Some key
characteristics to critical thinking are inquisitiveness, attentive, self-confidence, and
open minded. Not all of theses characteristics will have the same level of thought or
process to everyone who uses them. Some people will go more in depth with certain
areas where others might just think of the basics. I think one big barrier that is hard
for a lot of us nowadays is being open minded. Not sure how we have gotten to this
point in society but I believe being open minded has not come along with us at all.
We are more likely to attack someone over a different opinion then we are y’all and
learn from their point of view. I see this has a big barrier for our whole society this
day in age. With this weeks lesson a really want to hit again on being open minded.
I have a strong believe this is something we don’t see in our society very much or at
all. Being more open minded I believe could help a lot of us with different issues
and overall make our society a better place for everyone. Based on this week's
reading and activities, I would define critical thinking as the collection of skills we
use in our everyday life to make smart logical decisions. It's a really god skill that
everyone should learn to develop because it teaches you how to think rather than
what to think. Critical thinking includes the application of rules of logic as well as
gathering and evaluating evidence. Some characteristics that define critical thinkers
include the basic listening, speaking, and writing skills as well as skills to collect and
analyze evidence. Open minded skepticism is especially important because some
people may make decisions based on other factors and not solely the evidence present.
The first common barrier to critical thinking that comes to my mind is religion.
Religion can make one's judgement clouded based on ethnic values and ideals. The
second barrier that comes to my mind is plain simple ignorance that unfortunately
many people have. One way people can overcome these barriers is having an open
mind and accepting one's ideas and values even if you do not agree with them. When
you think about critical thinking you think of a complicated idea that doesn't matter in
everyday activities but in reality we use critical thinking every single day wether we
know it or not. After reading this week's activities it made me realize how important
these skills we have developed over the years are. I would define critical thinking as
being the way we make decisions, think, and problem solve logically. A critical
thinker is curious yet collective, a creative problem solver, open-minded, flexible, great
with communication, analyzes the situation and conducts research.Avoidance, anger,
denial, distractions, and ignorance are all common barriers to critical thinking. Anger
is a common barrier because some tend to over think and not see both sides of the
story, if the time was taken to do so that barrier could be avoided. Distractions
another barrier that can be avoided is by staying on tasks and prioritizing what is
important and what’s not. Ignorance is a barrier that can be avoided if people take
responsibility for their actions and rationalizing the situation instead of jumping to
conclusions. Realizing that we use critical thinking on a daily basis is eye-opening. In
the field of work I am in, I have to be able to think on my feet if a problem arises
and find a solution, to think all along I have been a critical thinker. Critical thinking
is defined as making logical decisions after analyzing both the right and wrong
answers. Its multiple skills coming together to analyze and use logical support rather
than creating opinions you don’t know are right or wrong. There is a lot of evaluation
in critical thinking which will lead to forming the best judgement. Some characteristics
of a critical thinker are effective communication which includes listening, speaking and
writing skills. Research skills such as gathering, evaluating and pulling together
evidence to make the best judgement. Open-minded skepticism is opening with an
open mind and attitude to look at both sides of the perspective and make the best
decision. Creative problem-solving is taking multiple views and coming up with the
best solution for each problem. This includes using other skills such as creative
thinking, research, and using their imagination.A few of the common barriers to
critical thinking are avoidance, anger, clichés and ignorance. Avoidance is avoiding
certain people or literature that supports their views. Anger is a response mainly used
with glares, threats, physical violence, war, etc. Clichés are using repeated statements
such as, “I have a right to my own opinion” and keep us from thinking critically
more about the issue. Ignorance is ignoring critical thinking because of reasons such
as information not being available or simply not wanting to know the answer. These
are all types of resistance to critically thinking and can be avoided by rationalizing
our thoughts and double thinking and seeing both sides of the story. The most
interesting concept I learned was how important critical thinking is in everything we
do. Everything we say, and do will reflect whether we are critical thinkers or not.
Seeing the amount of resistance to critical thinking has made me open my eyes more
and see where the areas of resistance are in my life, and will make me a better
person as I can focus on these and start to doublethink and rationalize better
decisions. Critical thinking is making reasoned judgments that are logical and well-
thought out. It is a way of thinking in which you don't simply accept all arguments
and conclusions you are exposed to but rather have an attitude involving questioning
such arguments and conclusions. Effective communication, flexibility and tolerance for
ambiguity, open-mindness, and problem solving are some characteristics of critical
thinking. These characteristics allow to recognise, build and appraise things. Effective
communication is when you can talk to a person or other methods of relaying
information that gets your point across. Open-mindedness is willingness to try new
things or consider new ideas. Problem solving is the process of finding solutions to
difficult or complex issues. Tolerance and ambiguity allows you to deal with ill-
defined nature of problems that have creative potential. Avoidance, denial/ignorance,
distractions, and narrow minded are some common barriers of critical thinking. These
barriers gives you the inability to be receptive to any view points that differs from
your own and hinders you from learning anything new. The video activities where
informative and gave me a clearer understanding of critical thinking. critical thinking
is an essential skill that everyone should have. It means that you evaluate something
in order to make a decision. Critical thinking is being able to look past something
that you already know to be true. Some characteristics of a critical thinker are being
open minded, and well informed of certain things. When you are a critical thinker you
are able to make changes when needed, such as when things come up and you have
to change your schedule but still get everything done in the day. Resistance and
avoidance are two barriers that make us closed minded. For example if you are in a
company meeting and someone states their opinion and you just do not want to hear
anything they are talking about. This is a barrier to your critical thinking. The video
“Critical Thinking in Everyday Life” was helpful in understanding that we often use
critical thinking without even really thinking about it. This is helpful in some ways as
when it comes to making sure we are understanding others have opinions around us,
but then other times it also allows us to be close minded. Critical thinking to me
means having the ability to analyze all the information and research you have on
something before making reasonable judgment. Whether it be from readings or
schooling or researching, you take all the information and come up with a good
reasonable conclusion. By knowing how to do this, it will help problem solving and
making informative decisions. Good characteristics of a critical thinker would have to
be someone who is open-minded and willing to learn about new things. Someone who
is concerned with becoming and staying knowledgeable. Someone who is attentive and
alerted. Someone who has self-confidence with ones own abilities to reason and
debate. I think there are multiple different barriers for critical thinkers. Most common
would have to be closed-mindedness, Lack of willingness and lack of knowledge. To
be a good critical thinker, you have to make sure you full of accurate knowledge so
you can make informed decisions and have a healthy debate. Some people feel like
they may be informed correctly due to all the different social media platforms but
have no real knowledge of topics. Also, people may not have to desire or willingness
to learn about different topics and subjects. Which might also contribute to their
critical thinking. People need to be open-minded and have the want to learn new
things. Lastly, closed-mindedness; ones bias may be so strong which leads them
become closed-minded and stops them from wanting to consider others views or
opinions. I feel like if the person is caught up with correct information on the topic
of critical thinking, that itself will help them change their views on stuff. My idea of
critical thinking is the way in which we come to a logical conclusion. After reading
through the information this week, I see the importance of critical thinking skills
coming from researched information rather than any sort of personal opinion. We use
critical thinking to acquire information and mature.According to the textbook some of
the important characteristics of a critical thinker are; analytical skills, effective
communication, research and inquiry skills, flexibility and tolerance for ambiguity,
open minded skepticism, creative problem solving, and curiosity .The goal of being a
successful critical thinker is to enhance your mind and grow as a human being, so
any skill of characteristic that will expand your mind, is most likely a characteristic of
a critical thinker.Common barriers to critical thinking will typically hinder you in any
sort of academic or professional setting. Being resistant, narrow-minded, a “double
thinker”, ignorant and having a fear of challenge or change, are some but not nearly
all of the barriers that may make it tough to learn and grow. It is essential to be
open minded in all areas of life whether it be personal, academic or professional.
These would be barriers that can be difficult to overcome because many of them step
from one’s upbringing. They can, however, be worked through by realizing that you
have control and you can make choices on trusted individuals to listen to and be open
to opposing views. The most interesting concept to me this week was just realizing
how often we critically think in our day to day lives. When I first heard the words
critical thinking at the beginning of this week, I pictured hard problem solving or
significant life events. I did not recognize that the little decisions I make on a daily
basis actually are due to my subconscious critical thinking. My definition of critical
thinking is being able to recognize an issue , and be able to come up with a solution
to fix the issue. Critical thinking is a skill that we use on an everday basis , but may
not always realize it. Some characterisitcs of a critical thinker are flexibility, effective
communication and most importantly being open minded. We have to be able to be
open to seeing things in the perspective of others. Seeing things in someone else's
perspective may point out certain things that we maybe did not catch on our own.
This will help us in making wiser decisions in our everyday critical thinking. Some of
the barriers of critical thinking are distractions, avoidance, and being narrow minded. I
have to admit in my personal experiences distractions has been one of my biggest
barriers in critical thinking. This is often background noise. Being narrow minded or
avoiding the issue altogether is a real compromise when it comes to critical thinking.
I think it's a very poor decision to live life this way.One of the most interesting
concept that I enjoyed learning about was the barriers to critical thinking. The videos
were very easy understand so they were not confsing at all, but I do think these were
great learning interactive activities. I would define critical thinking as making rational
decisions on your own. Most people do not realize that they use critical thinking in
their everyday life, even if it is something simple as to planning how you are going
to make it on time. Critical thinking in my opinion is nothing more than problem
solving. From what I have learned in this weeks lesson, the characteristics of a critical
thinker are: effective communication, flexibility, tolerance for ambiguit, open-
mindedness, and problem solving. As we have learned this week these characteristics
are what forms a great critical thinker. A common barrier I see in critical thinking is
avoidance. I can admit that I am very commonly guilty of this as instead of fixing a
conflict I have with someone, I would much rather avoid them. One can avoid this
barrier by coming to an agreement with the other party. Even if you still don't see
their view, coming to an understanding can avoid this barrier. The most interesting
thing I have learned this week was that their are barriers that can stop you from
thinking criticaly. Most people encounter these barriers because they are only
interested in seeing their point of view and are not willing to be open-minded. Critical
thinking may come in various forms, but it essentially means the same thing. The
ability to make a decision and how you make that decision despite your personal
views. A few characteristics that make a critical thinker are the creative problem
solving, being open minded, and my favorite, being intellectually curious. And of
course having good communication and problem solving skills.Even though this was
not listed under a common barrier, I feel as if being self-conscious and not having
high self-esteem may get in the way of being able to think critically. You will
constantly question yourself, making it impossible to come up with a good solution.
Another characteristic that will hinder the ability to think critically is being ignorant.
Being oblivious to another persons point of view. Which kind of falls into another
barrier which is being narrow minded. When it comes to what concepts might be
confusing during this weeks reading I am confused when discussing cognitive, and
social dissonance. I understand being around different view points depending on a
certain crowd you are around. How would that affect how a person feels if they are
not swayed easy?. critical thinking is the way information is evaluated. This evaluation
helps in decision making that may be observed or researched. Critical thinking is used
in every day situations which is a part of logic. These are the tools for good decision
making. It is more advanced than having common sense. To be a critical thinker you
must be able to problem solve. A critical thinker analyze information and must not be
bias. They have to be able to consider their beliefs as well as others. They must have
an open mind and be able to work with others. when a person have a huge ego and
a lot of pride it hinders them in their thinking because they stand strong in their
beliefs. They are bias and know their belief is the right belief. Other barriers are is
social conditioning and group thinkers. In some fashion as a group thinker and social
conditioning , the group or society believe in the same thing. One way to solve this
is to research all sides. Learning about critical thinking and the barriers was important
to me because it put thinking into perspective.
