COURSE DESCRIPTION
Explores the baccalaureate generalist’s role in the dynamic healthcare environment." Emphasis is placed
on healthcare policy and politics, cost containment, and regulatory issues. Emerging topics are also
discussed, including: accessibility and provision of healthcare to vulnerable and diverse populations; the
effect of health information and literacy on consumer behavior; the emerging field of genetics and.
genomics; the evolving needs of the contemporary nursing and healthcare workforce; and
complementary/alternative therapies and their influences on patient-centered healthcare.
