Overview
This assignment consists of two sections: a written project plan and a PowerPoint presentation. You must submit the two sections as separate files for the
completion of this assignment. Label each file name according to the section of the assignment it is written for.
Instructions
Section 1: Written Project Plan
Imagine you are a software engineer working on a fixed budget and you are tasked to develop a web-based student registration system. This web-based
system allows students to register for classes, authenticate their credentials, and select classes for which they are eligible to register. It also registers the
students, prints a confirmation receipt, and prepares a registration invoice. You have been asked to provide senior management with a detailed summary,
activity graph, and project plan of how you plan to execute the project.
Write a 5–6 page paper in which you:
1. Describe the development of the student registration project as a work breakdown structure of actions and transitions among these actions.
2. Create an activity graph from the breakdown structure using Microsoft Visio or its open source alternative, Dia. Be sure to identify the time estimates
and critical path in your submission. Note: The graphically depicted solution is not included in the required page length.
3. Write a project plan for this project which includes, but is not limited to, a risk analysis, task scheduling, and personnel staffing for the project.
4. Provide a rationale for the decisions you made in your project plan to senior management.
This course requires the use of Strayer Writing Standards. For assistance and information, please refer to the Strayer Writing Standards link in the left-
hand menu of your course. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
Section 2: PowerPoint Presentation
The senior management team has also requested that you present the plan in a concise presentation to the board of directors during the organization's
next operations meeting.
Create a 5–10 slide PowerPoint presentation for the presentation to the board of directors in which you:
1. Present the proposed plan documented in the written project plan.
2. Include the key elements of the project plan (i.e., work breakdown structure, activity graph, risk management, project schedule, and project staffing).
3. Include a justification of the decisions made in the proposed plan to senior management.
4. Create bulleted speaking notes for the presentation to the board of directors in the Notes section of the PowerPoint. Note: You may create or assume
any fictitious names, data, or scenarios that have not been established in this assignment for a realistic flow of communication.
5. Use a professional technically written style to graphically convey the information.

Text
Overview
This assignment consists of two sections: an improvement plan and a PowerPoint presentation. You must submit the two sections as separate files for the
completion of this assignment. Label each file name according to the section of the assignment it is written for.
Instructions
Section 1: Improvement Plan
Suppose you are working as a senior software development manager in a software house. The company develops custom software for clients. In one of
the development projects, a postmortem analysis reveals that a particular developer out of a team of five was responsible for the major failure of the
developed software product. This has caused the project to run 20 percent behind schedule and exceed its monetary budget by 30 percent. Initial
estimates point to an additional 12 weeks from the original 36-week effort to correct the failures. You have been asked by your supervisor to create an
improvement plan to address these issues using the People Capability Maturity Model (P-CMM).
Write a 5–6 page paper in which you:
1. Evaluate the key practices and improvement activities from the people capability maturity model and recommend the practices you would use to
address the software failure.
2. Describe an appropriate strategy for implementing the recommended improvement activities that you have identified.
3. Explain how to measure the return on the company investment after applying the key practices and improvement activities.
4. Use at least two quality resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar websites do not qualify as quality resources.
This course requires the use of Strayer Writing Standards. For assistance and information, please refer to the Strayer Writing Standards link in the left-
hand menu of your course. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
Section 2: PowerPoint Presentation
You have also been asked to develop a presentation to be shown to your CEO to explain why you have chosen to implement the specific strategy outlined
in your improvement plan.
Prepare a 7–10 slide PowerPoint presentation in which you:
1. Summarize the main points in the improvement plan.
2. Create bulleted speaking notes for the presentation to the executive board in the Notes section of the PowerPoint. Note: You may create or assume any
fictitious names, data, or scenarios that have not been established in this assignment for a realistic flow of communication.
3. Use a professional technically written style to graphically convey the information.

completion of this assignment. Label each file name according to the section of the assignment it is written for.
Instructions
Section 1: Research Report
Imagine you are employed as a senior software engineer in a company that designs and produces mobile software applications for health care providers.
Your CIO has asked you to research trends in mobile software development so that your organization is prepared for the next wave of software innovation.
The focus of your efforts will be on deciding whether to utilize the Android, iOS, or Microsoft tablet development approach while keeping in mind that you
need to make a recommendation that will allow your company to launch its product to customers in 90 days or less using an agile methodological
approach. Your research must consider all three platforms with a recommended course of action on one.
Write a 10–15 page paper in which you:
1. Identify trends in mobile software development and explain why they are relevant to the scenario described above.
2. Explain how the different mobile platform will affect the different phases of requirements, design, development, and deployment of the mobile software
product.
3. Make a recommendation on which mobile platform to use and justify the recommendation.
4. Describe the agile methodological approach that you would implement to bring the product to the market in 90 days or less.
5. Propose a testing plan to ensure that the developed product is both valid and verifiable.
6. Use at least 6 quality resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar websites do not qualify as quality resources.
