Many risks are associated with VPNs and remote working. Due to the pandemic,
most companies have had to introduce remote working or work from home programs
instead of working from the office. While companies allowed a small portion of their
employees to work remotely, the pandemic sent almost all employees to work
remotely. As a result, there had to be on-the-spot training for the in-house employee
to learn what would be needed to work remotely. This fast-paced training could have
caused issues with exposing proprietary information, downloading ransomware, or
other attacks due to not being trained or understanding the importance of ensuring
access to the company’s data through a secure VPN. The growth in cybercriminal
