Software as a service (SaaS) is a major clod service model in which software is
licensed on a subscription basis to an end-user. It is of paramount importance to
effectively configure and operate security in a SaaS solution so that it can be safely
used in the virtual setting (Jay, 2021). However, a number of issues may arise that
may adversely affect the SaaS solution and give rise to security-related challenges
and other complexities. Some of the major issues that may arise while configuring
and operating security for SaaS include the concerns pertaining to the visibility of
SaaS usage and control, risk of data exposure visibility, and inability to prevent risk
in the cloud domain.
In the context of SaaS, the integration and effective adoption of security is
considered to be one of the major sources of concerns. It is highly critical to have the
right set of products so that there will be constant visibility in the cloud setting and
the risk from online hackers and cyber criminals can be identified in a timely manner.
Having adequate knowledge relating to how the data is actually secured can also
pose a major challenge in the Software as a service model. Security as well as
stability is considered to be the two key pillars of a reliable and well-functional SaaS
solution. However, in the uncertain and unpredictable virtual setting, the attainment
of stability can act as a concern. It could threaten the security framework that is in
place and it can also increase the risk of sensitive information or data that has been
stored on the cloud.' The lack of insight relating to the exact location where the data
centers are located can also act as a major challenge in the security context of
SaaS. It could mainly arise threaten the data that is stored in the cloud in case a
natural calamity takes place.
