Businessinsider.com defines single sign-on (SSO) as a popular verification solution that
allows users to enter a single set of credentials for access to different apps, simplifying the
login process.SSO has its advantages and drawbacks.Three advantages mentioned on
businessinsider.com includes gaining access to programs and accounts in a much faster and
less inconvenient manner, Users simply have to remember a single set of credentials, such as
their username and password and Administrators may simply give or withdraw permissions
from users and centralize control over their access to platforms.
Three drawbacks mentioned on businessinsider.com include but is not limited to security
concerns.Because SSO only requires one set of credentials for access to various
applications, it can pose a security concern.Because a rigorous discovery phase is required
to ensure the proper processes and technology are applied, implementing SSO may be a
complex and costly endeavour (businessinsider.com).Last but not least, users would lose
access to all of the applications that fall under the SSO umbrella rather than just a particular
site or service if the SSO system went down (bussinessinsider.com).
The banking industry is the one I selected. SSO is not advised due to security concerns. I
agree that two-factor authentication is a good idea. When you sign onto your bank's website,
you must first enter your user name and password, and then be validated using a pin delivered
to your phone. In the financial setting, Single Sign-On, in my opinion, is vulnerable to
hackers.

authentication method that lets you log into different websites and apps
with a single username and password. Business Insider.
