Invent energy utility company providing electricity and gas services to a large metropolitan area.
Describe the organization's primary functions, critical infrastructure, and potential threats, such
as natural disasters, cyberattacks, and supply chain disruptions.
Write a 10-15 page paper discussing the significance of contingency planning for energy utilities
and how it can ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
1. Develop a comprehensive contingency plan for the utility company, covering BIA, IRP,
DRP, and BCP aspects.
2. Detail policies and procedures for infrastructure maintenance, emergency response, and
customer communication.
3. Explain the processes for implementing and maintaining the contingency plan, including
outage drills and equipment inspections.
4. Create a hypothetical scenario involving a severe storm causing widespread power
outages and explain how the contingency plan handles it, including restoration timelines.
5. Discuss ethical considerations related to prioritizing service restoration for critical
