Risk identification, risk assessment, risk evaluation, plan design, and plan
implementation are the five essential components of a risk management strategy. Sports
management must begin by identifying risks holistically. Initial consideration should be given to
legal areas such as torts and employment laws as well as administrative law and intellectual
property law as a result of past failures or incidents, a checklist containing a list of hazards, risks,
and control failures has been developed, usually as a result of previous risk assessments, and/or
brainstorming among a group using a team of knowledgeable people, or conducting structured
interviews with key stakeholders, can be used in the facility, but also identify safe areas in the
facility (InConsult, n.d.). This will be followed by a thorough analysis and review of the sport
facility's business contracts. In this section, contracts such as vendor agreements and employee
agreements will be discussed as well as hiring processes, training, evaluation, and termination
processes. The next step is to conduct a risk assessment. Here, the sport management should
