Module Twelve- Discussion
Southern New Hampshire University
I was happy to see a video of Brené Brown included in this week’s resources. I have been a fan
of her for many years now and feel that her messages are so important to personal
development and effective communication. Vulnerability as a leader and as a participant are
important to success. I personally believe that showing vulnerability also creates an
environment of trust. You must trust those around you when you are vulnerable and thus it
encourages reciprocal trust.
Vulnerability in problem solving can foster an environment in a group setting that encourages
more participation since you are expressing that you do not have all the answers. When
working alone, it encourages me to seek outside support. Engaging others, also makes them a
part of your success and likely gives them some joy.
As I continue this academic journey, I’m sure that my check-ins with my goals that drive
towards my mission of completing a degree will keep me motivated. If I’m achieving those
goals, it means I am doing well with the coursework and those “wins” will motivate me to keep
going.
A key to my success will be ensuring that I leave time in my daily schedule to accomplish my
coursework and to check in with myself on how I am doing with the workload. My plan is to
schedule a check in every morning with the fall back of an evening check in for days when my
work schedule does not allow a successful morning check. I also plan on completing as much
work as I can during a block of open time. I have set up a folder system that will allow me to
download template for future weeks and begin work on the assignments as well as the
discussion write-up when I can create a focus time to do so.
I think each one of us will have tools and tricks that work for us, within the balance of our
family, work, volunteer, and school schedules. I also believe that what works for us today, may
not be what works for us in the future, and we must be open and adaptable as workloads shift.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone! May your table be filled with friends and family, love
and laughter, and of course, delicious food.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading your reflections on Brené Brown's video and your insightful
perspective on vulnerability in leadership and personal development. It's wonderful to hear that
her messages resonate with you and that you recognize the significance of vulnerability in
fostering trust both as a leader and a participant.
Your observation about vulnerability in problem-solving creating an environment conducive to
group participation is spot on. It's a powerful way to acknowledge that none of us have all the
answers and encourages collaboration. Additionally, your approach to seeking outside support
when working alone not only enriches your own experience but also involves others in your
success, creating a sense of shared accomplishment.
Your proactive approach to maintaining motivation throughout your academic journey is
commendable. Regular check-ins with your goals aligned with your mission of completing a
degree will undoubtedly provide the motivation and direction needed to navigate the coursework
successfully. The idea of celebrating "wins" along the way is an excellent strategy to reinforce
your commitment and progress.
Your time management plan is well thought out, incorporating morning and evening check-ins,
creating blocks of open time for focused work, and setting up a folder system for future
assignments. Your recognition of the need for adaptability in the face of evolving schedules is a
wise perspective that will serve you well in the dynamic context of balancing family, work,
volunteer, and school commitments.
Wishing you a joyful Thanksgiving filled with warmth, laughter, and delicious food. May this
holiday be a time of relaxation and reflection for you
I also believe that vulnerability is a gateway to trust. I feel trust is so hard to come by and is
probably the reason others are so defiant on showing those emotions and needs. I've seen
countless times where people refuse help because it "makes them look weak, or incapable". I
hope reading your take on vulnerability allows others to feel more confident when reaching out. I
feel you've perfectly shown that no one will think less of you for finding a shoulder to lean on.
Thank you, Judy! I also hope you had an amazing Thanksgiving.
