examples from your advertisements. You do not need to conduct outside research, but if you use
sources, cite them using APA style.

communicates.
[Olay #makespaceforwomen]
o[The underlying meaning and message of this advertisement is that space should be for
men and women. It represents women empowerment and how women aren’t always
given the same opportunities as men. There are many instances where women aren’t
respected in their careers. Like in sports women athletes don’t get the same
opportunities . This advertisement targets the issue of women equality.
[Promote Iceland: Let it out
o[This advertisement signifies some things we may feel with the stress of life and the
things we come across daily. It states that relaxing is needed to help you get through all
of these obstacles. A nice vacation will help take your mind off what life may be giving
you. This advertisement is refreshing to me it gives a sense of hope that everything will
be okay.]
[Pansonic#Your Inner Man.]
o[This advertisement signifies men should embrace their inner selves and express it to
the world. No matter how different it may seem then what is considered the standard
view men can be different and express their feelings and beliefs. They are encouraged to
express what represents them and what feels like who they are.
[Pantene#SeeBeauty not gender
o[This advertisements message signifies I feel specifically for the LBGTQ community.
Beauty is on the inside and not just the outside. Beauty has no gender to it and you
should be comfortable in your skin. I also feel like it signifies that trans women are
beautiful just like one born a woman. We should see beauty beyond gender.
Write a research question based on a social science perspective and related to at least one of your
advertisements.
Why are some reasons women aren’t given the same opportunities as men ?
Why do we judge based off looks?
Describe how you used a social science perspective to create your research question.
[I used social science perspective by basing my questions off of things that have been going on in
society for years. Historically there have been events that helped better situations where
women equality has been issues or gender crimes. For years society has had this issue. Ads
continue to use these issues in there approach for products. Watching these ads have helped
me base my research questions.
