Module Overview
Just as the investment into people and the planet have their role as a
part of the triple bottom line, an organization’s profitability remains an
important aspect of this trio as well. Adjusting current business
operations or establishing new procedures that encourage efficiency
and profitability should remain a priority for leaders in business. In this
module, you will begin to explore the fundamentals of operations
management to equip you with the necessary acumen for refining
processes and improving operations.
The improvement of operations and profitability, regardless of
industry, can start with project management, which is necessary to
effectively initiate, plan, execute, monitor, and close a project. Proper
project management also requires you to have a complete
understanding of the goals that your organization hopes to achieve
and the resources that will be used to achieve outlined goals.
Additionally, project management supports an organization in
eliminating wasted time and resources. Building upon the idea of
eliminating waste, other concepts for exploration in this module
include inventory management and industry strategies that can be
employed to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
