A few of the positive impacts that the Amazon effect has on
customers is that online shopping has vastly evolved largely in part to
Amazon raising the standard of faster delivery, larger supply that
keeps up with the consumer demand for a wide array of products,
and offers numerous products for lower prices. A few of the negative
impacts that the Amazon effect has had for customers is that more
customers are preferring to shop online instead of going to retail
stores, the efficiency of these delivery methods leaves competitors
lacking with trying to keep up, and because it has grown quickly,
competitors are losing their edge on keeping their prices
competitive.
Although ethical concerns fall on both the customer and the
businesses, consumers are statistically showing that they want to
find more sustainable practices and organizations that want that as
well. The problem lies with the businesses for a majority because
unintentionally the cost of being sustainable is not in their revenues
best interest, and remaining stagnant and doing what they have
always done will inevitably cost them the customers loyalty. The
ethical problem then worsens when customers stay loyal to an
organization that has no intention of improving its business which
leads the customers to invest into a business that is harming the
world around them. It is a never ending cycle if one or both do not
move towards the direction of change.
