Positive impacts on the "Amazon Effect" is the speed of the customer
receiving the product and tracking the package. If a customer needs
a product quickly, then same-day delivery, next-day delivery, and
two-day shipping options are available. A customer can also check
where the package is by tracking the GPS location of the delivery
truck and receiving notifications. Negative impacts include customer
expectations being raised too high and people do not what to shop
locally anymore. Customers want the convenience of shopping
online, low costs, and not having to get out of the house. Consumers
do not want to pay the higher prices of shopping local, even though
it helps support the community they live in.
To meet the extremely high customer expectations, employees are
working long hours and are pressured to meet production quotas.
There are negative impacts on the environment. When customers
demand increases, businesses need to increase production to meet
orders. Transportation and delivery would also increase. Both impact
the amount of emissions in the environment. Most of the unethical
practices fall on the business and little on the customer. The business
has control over the operations, while the customers have control
over what and where they purchase from.
