What are the positive and negative impacts of the "Amazon
effect" for customers?
The Amazon effect changed the way that most people order and buy
products. There are both negative and positive impacts due to the
Amazon effect. The negative impacts include multiple shipments for
one order, placed in cardboard boxes. Amazon Prime also causes
competition to try to do the same. This has also been a negative
impact on local Malls and stores because customers can now order
what they need with a click of the finger and have it delivered within
two days. This Amazon effect has ended many jobs in the retail
business. Positive impacts include customer satisfaction and
businesses thinking about packaging sustainability. The Amazon
effect has also given opportunities for small businesses to have a
strong start for their business.
As ethical concerns regarding business practices such as poor
employee treatment, negative environmental impacts of
production, and decreasing use of local storefronts are
recognized, how much, if any, of the responsibility of these
unethical practices fall to the customers, and how much, if any,
falls to businesses?
A lot of the responsibility of these unethical practices fall to the
customers because they want to save so much money that it places
the business, needing to make a profit, in a bad position; therefore,
unfortunately, this falls on the treatment of employees, and negative
environmental impacts of production. Some businesses have a lot of
responsibility for these unethical practices. Especially huge
corporations who have the means to create ethical practices and still
meet customer demand but prefer to pay CEOs so much money from
pure greed.
