2-1 Discussion: Final Project Milestone One: Research Topic
Hello everyone!
I am choosing the topic, cognitive development from childhood through adolescence, for my
research paper. Childhood and adolescence cognitive development is relevant to adolescence and
emerging adulthood development because the cognitive abilities of a child will have a direct impact on
that child as he or she grows into adolescence and then further into adulthood. The social, physical, and
cultural growth of children is heavily impacted by their cognitive development. How a child develops
cognitively from childhood through adolescence will play a significant role in how that child develops
into adolescence and emerging adulthood. “Cognitive development refers to the student’s
understanding of concepts and the ability to think and reason” (Schick PhD., B., ). Also, according to n.d.
the article, “EIPA Written Test and Knowledge Standards: Cognitive Development,” language fosters
cognitive growth, however the sophistication of the language has an impact on cognitive ability.
