How could Roy's "wonderful feedback loops" illustrate the zone of proximal growth or working
at height?
The "The genesis of the word" video on Ted by Deb Roy provides insight into how children's
vocabulary grows. The movie shows how a kid learns words by first making them up, then
approximating them until they sound right. The "wonderful feedback loops" that all adults utilize
with the youngsters are a form of scaffolding, they realized while doing this study (Roy, 2011).
Data collection revealed that "caregiver speech would methodically descend to a minimum,
making language as plain as possible, and then progressively rise back up in sophistication," as
stated in the release (Roy, 2011). When the elders initially spoke to him, as he was learning a
new term, they started to speak more simply; when he was able to start mastering the language,
