Does each person have a different blind spot size? WOMACK, Barbara C. July4, 2018 Abstract:
Every person has a blind spot, a small part of their eyesight that lacks light receptors and cannot
detect pictures. This experiment was designed to see if there are any individual differences in the
size of the blind spot. Three people, aged between 59 and 80, were included in the sample
population for this experiment: two males and one female. Despite the limited sample size of my
population, the evidence is consistent with my hypothesis that the size of the blind area changes
from person to person. The participants were instructed to find the blind spot in their right eye
using the online GoCognitive mapping application (Go Cognitive, 2015). I then took a
measurement of the blind spot's height and width.
These findings support my theory that, despite participants 1 and 2 having similar average
diameters, the size of the blind spot varies from person to person. The blind spot's height and
breadth also varied. The participants in this experiment were the independent variable, while the
size of the blind spot was the dependent variable. The online mapping tool served as the
operational variable (Saylor,2009). The areas of behavioral neuroscience, biology, and cognitive
psychology views all apply to this investigation (Carnegie MellonUniversity,2015). Introduction:

the complete transmission of a picture to the brain.
