"bias in the workplace." This is an important issue to me because I
have been on the negative end of a gender-biased opinion at work. a I
lost a promotion to a man with less experience than me and the
reason I was told was he "had more leadership qualities" than me. At
the time I did not think much about it but as I learnt about impliciant
biased I realized that was the true reason I lost the promotion.
Implicit bias is also why this topic is a hot-button topic. Implicit biases
are subconscious so unless they are pointed out, they just seem like
the norm. a Sometimes people get upset when you point out their bias,
especially when it relates to the workplace. Bias in the workplace can
go beyond someone not getting a deserved promotion. This can lead
to someone getting a dress code violation for their hair or being called
rude because of different cultural norms.
