Why are you in school?
I am in school to get my bachelor's degree in psychology and
continue with my education to get my Ph.D. so I can go into the carer
I have been holding off on for years.
What are your strengths?
Good with people, helping others, problem solver, very empathetic,
organized, fast learner, and good with feedback.
How do you learn best?
I learn best when someone shows me visually or hands-on I also learn
from my mistakes and I ask questions by not giving up on myself.
What are your skills?
I am skilled in computer knowledge, caretaking, communication,
housekeeping, cooking, organizing events, management, problem-
solving, and training someone.
What skills do you want to improve upon or learn?
I need to improve my facial expression, take time for myself, and have
boundaries between my work and home.
What are your interests and hobbies?
My interests and hobbies are watching and playing sports with my
boys, watching anime, doing some cosplay with my daughter,
cooking, reading, dancing, and playing video games and movie night,
learning new things from my classes.
What problems would you like to address in the world?
The problem I will like to address with the world is that mental health
is a very important thing to know about and where you can get help
for yourself or a loved one. There are so many people in the world
suffering from mental health that are still afraid to talk about it
because they are scared they are going to be judged. I believe if we
educate ourselves and the community we could properly save
someone's life by showing them some empathy, kindness, and
understanding that they are not alone. This is why I want to become a
therapist for everyone not just for one type of group I have friends,
family member, and a child that have depression, and she handles her
depression and anxiety with calm music and exercises with her
brothers which help her because she won't believe that medication is
the answer to everything.
Where do you envision yourself in five years?
I envision myself in 5 years working in a career with my bachelor's
degree in psychology and getting some hands-on training while I
continue my education for my Ph.D. and enjoy the work am doing.
Which programmatic course themes are most relevant to your career
or goals for personal growth?
Self-care
Social justice
Emotional intelligence
Career connections
Ethics
The programmatic course theme that is most relevant to my career in
psychology is emotional intelligence because you need to be
empathic with your client and know how to talk or approach them
and have good communication skills so they feel comfortable talking.
Self-care learning how to keep work and personal apart from each
other and taking care of yourself first so you want to wear yourself
out. Social justice by bringing your community together and teaching
them about the different ways you can help someone or they can be
where signs to look out for.
I choose this picture of my family because they are my biggest
support system and they remind me every day that they are so proud
of me for following my dreams. They are my world and they keep me
going.
