• Is Turing's test the right way to approach the idea of
intelligence? In other words, if you have a conversation with a
computer and you believe that you are talking with a human,
would that computer be intelligent? Why or why not? I like the
idea of the Turing test, but I don't agree with him that it's a form
of intelligence. Just because a computer can sound intelligent
doesn't mean it has all the qualities necessary to communicate
with the human race. As humans we have different types of
emotions that talking with a computer would never recognize in
my opinion. a
• How are human thinking and machine computing similar in
function of memory? How are they different? I personally don't
think humans and machines have similar functions when it
comes to memory. As humans' memories can be subtle or
complex depending on the situations. I can barely remember
things from a few years ago but I remember almost everything
from my childhood growing up. So as humans it comes down to
what you may consider important. Computers on the other
hand deal in raw data. A computer can be programmed to
remember whatever we want it to be depending on the GB's it
has. Look at the cell phone for instance we can store more
pictures than ever before.
• Do you think it's possible for computers to ever think or be as
intelligent as humans? Why or why not? I think humans will
always be more intelligent than computers because as we have
a 100 billion brain cells. As we learn new things the brain starts
to change its knowledge base. I think a computer may be more
intelligent than humans if they were programmed for certain
things like playing video games. Computers may pick up the
game faster because of the tasks involved. Other than that, I will
say that we as humans will continue to be more intelligent than
computers.
• How do either of the concepts of human intelligence or artificial
intelligence apply to any of the following programmatic course
themes:
o Self-care- is a prerequisite to achievement and
interpersonal success
o Social justice- people are treated with dignity and respect
o Emotional intelligence- makes us more self-aware and
helping us manage key work relationships
o Career connections- helps to build relationships, reduce
team stress, defuse conflict and improve job satisfaction
o Ethics- will make you a better leader as you are able to
inspire confidence, communicate effectively, and
successfully collaborate with others in the workplace
